“the pope as dictator over a hierarchy of petty dictators”

Kalb says what so many have noticed, but can barely bring themselves to acknowledge. If we were merely noticing moral failings of the Pope, perhaps we could remain silent, pray, and hope for the best. However, when the pope attacks the doctrine of the Church, we have a duty to speak in defense of Christ and the truth. Especially when poorly catechized Catholics are being led astray, silence is not virtuous; it is cowardice. This silence watches souls race toward perdition and does not warn them.

In a sense this concept of “discernment” trumping doctrine if taken to extremes essentially means that each person decides for himself what is right or wrong, allegedly moved by the Holy Spirit (by some spirit anyway). The Church groaned and in its astonishment found itself Protestant.

Am I alone in noticing the parallels between the descriptions of Francis by his supporters and descriptions of the anti-Christ?

I love Crisis Magazine and view it every week. James Kalb (who like me is a lawyer and a convert) gave an excellent exposition on the current crisis in the Church. Csrdinal Oullet’s recent diatribe against Vigano, calling his criticism of the Pope “blasphemous”, as well as Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez’s Maradiaga’s saying ti is a “sin against the Holy Spirit” to call on the Pope to resign (even if the sex abuse cover up accusations are true?) are indications that they have elevated the current Pope as a sort of substitute God.
