The horrors of the lib dem agenda presaged in the horrors of the past

The horrors of the goals of liberal dems are presaged in the horrors of the past.

Feeding the gods: Hundreds of skulls reveal massive scale of human sacrifice in Aztec capital

The priest quickly sliced into the captive’s torso and removed his still-beating heart. That sacrifice, one among thousands performed in the sacred city of Tenochtitlan, would feed the gods and ensure the continued existence of the world.

Death, however, was just the start of the victim’s role in the sacrificial ritual, key to the spiritual world of the Mexica people in the 14th to the 16th centuries.

Priests carried the body to another ritual space, where they laid it face-up. Armed with years of practice, detailed anatomical knowledge, and obsidian blades sharper than today’s surgical steel, they made an incision in the thin space between two vertebrae in the neck, expertly decapitating the body. Using their sharp blades, the priests deftly cut away the skin and muscles of the face, reducing it to a skull. Then, they carved large holes in both sides of the skull and slipped it onto a thick wooden post that held other skulls prepared in precisely the same way. The skulls were bound for Tenochtitlan’s tzompantli, an enormous rack of skulls built in front of the Templo Mayor—a pyramid with two temples on top. One was dedicated to the war god, Huitzilopochtli, and the other to the rain god, Tlaloc.

Eventually, after months or years in the sun and rain, a skull would begin to fall to pieces, losing teeth and perhaps even its jaw. The priests would remove it to be fashioned into a mask and placed in an offering, or use mortar to add it to two towers of skulls that flanked the tzompantli. For the Aztecs—the larger cultural group to which the Mexica belonged—those skulls were the seeds that would ensure the continued existence of humanity. They were a sign of life and regeneration, like the first flowers of spring.

But the Spanish conquistadors who marched into Tenochtitlan in 1519 saw them differently. For them, the skulls—and the entire practice of human sacrifice—evinced the Mexica’s barbarism and justified laying waste to the city in 1521. The Spanish tore down the Templo Mayor and the tzompantli in front of it, paved over the ruins, and built what would become Mexico City. And the great rack and towers of skulls passed into the realm of historical mystery.

It’s being excavated.

And what the lib dems and the traitorous catholic enablers have outstripped the Aztecs on an industrial scale by their support of Big Business Abortion™.

Imagine what it sounded like, back then.  Perhaps the screams were echoed in the howlings of the unhinged lefties to which we were recently treated on television.  The same spirit drives them.

If you enjoy science fiction and alternate histories, that’s a great book called Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus. It explores this quite a bit.

  2. Bellarmino Vianney says:

Unrepentant lib dems – including their voters – cannot get to heaven. That is plain and simple Gospel teaching.

Jesus says, “but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God”. (Luke 12:9)

A vote in favor of a liberal/Leftist politician is an explicit denial of Jesus Christ.

They will be met at the Gates of Heavan by the millions of children they helped abort…no entry’ for them! Then the REAL SCREAMING begins!

    From the linked article:

“For them”? Moral relativism as its best.

As if one group of people sacrificing prisoners/slaves including women and children by the thousands proud and open in daylight and erecting monuments to their slaughter for any visitor to see and another group of people who think that this is somehow barbarism are just two groups with differeing views of which neither is objectively more sensible, as if they just differ upon whether blue or green is the better color for the new car.

And i have always thought that whatever crimes the spanish conquistadors committed – and certainly they committed quite some – and whatever questionable kind of person some of them were – some might have been ethically little different from standard robbers – and whoever horrible were the new diseases brought from Europe for this deed they deserve praise:
“The Spanish tore down the Templo Mayor and the tzompantli in front of it, paved over the ruins,”

Somebody had to do it and better that gold hungry robbers do it than nobody doing it.

In a sense yes. There is even a parallel in the sense, that the Aztecs thought this necessary for keeping the world going, so for maintaining human society; this is somewhat reflected in proponents of legal abortion thinking that this is the demarcation line between a modern society with equal rights for women and men and a descend into something resembling the most dreary depictions of the middle ages or even modern islamism with troublemakers, especially female ones put aflame on the stake.

But this issue is also in a very wicked sense different, cause unlike the Aztecs who had a justification that was just pure bonkers, the justification of legal abortion have in so far a connection to reality, in that in a society in which each and every unborn child is not killed men and women would be clearly unequal parties in matters of sexuality.

And as our society treats sex certainly as the greatest pasttime in the world and even many think that a life without sufficient sex is unfulfilling and/or even barely worth living, it is easy for many to end up with the idea, that equality of women requires abortion on demand and without apology.

So to fundamentally the stance of many regarding abortion one would also have to to some extent change how our societes view sex; and that is at least not an easy job.

Which BTW in my view also is part of why so many people not being catholics or at least not being serious catholics are so agitated by celibacy and prohibition of sex outside marriage (meaning a priest should not have any sex whatsoever) although this is only relevant to catholics. After all, if priest have a fulfilling life without ever having sex, that would be evidence that the idea, that sex is a must have for humans is to some extent false.

Hence, a man and a woman pondering upon whether to follow their desire to have sex although currently they do not want to have a child together – which in modern thinking means that they should have sex, cause otherwise unfulfilling life, etc. – might have an alternative to having sex, as the example of priests shows, that a happy life might be possible without having regularly and always sex when there is desire.

I’m dating a woman from Chihuahua. Those Aztecs were horrendous: they would make children cry before ripping out their hearts; they thought thereby they could get rain. But abortion is far worse because we’re talking hundreds of millions of little babies killed world-wide. It’s human sacrifice on a grand-scale. That many bishops and priests fail to mention this new form of human sacrifice is a dereliction of their duty.

The Spanish, outnumbered ten to one, took out the Aztec priests, and Our Lady of Guadalupe converted Mexico. But we have great Priests like Bl. Pro who withstood the Mexican revolution a century ago. He is the only Saint having been photographed being martyred. I gave my second class Bl. Pro relic to my spiritual adviser, and he blessed himself with it. If we’re not careful we are going to have more Catholic martyrs in this Country. In the South, where I lived, Catholics are a tiny minority, and are hated by many.

  9. Ben Kenobi says:

Many asked the question as to what happened to the Maya and the civilizations that existed in that part of the world. I remember reading Jeremiah and hearing what God had to say to me. We can be replaced. We do not have a covenant as God has with Israel. He will wait and be patient, but he is not going to be patient forever. I’ve watched and worried over how long he is going to permit us to repent from these awful evils.

  10. Semper Gumby says:

Fr. Reader: Great book recommendation. (For those unfamiliar with the novel, the space voyage itself might seem a little slow as O’Brien sets the stage for a few hundred pages, but things really get crackin’ when they arrive at their destination.)

Speaking of the Aztecs, Cortez was aided in his conquest of the bloodthirsty Aztecs by numerous Indian (or indigenous if you prefer) allied tribes.

Ben Kenobi: “…He will not be patient forever.” I agree.

As for the Mayans, archaeologists have almost as many theories for the collapse of Mayan civilization (some archaeologists and anthropologists say: no, it was a more gradual decline) as for the collapse of the Roman Empire.

These days the Drought and Deforestation theories are rather popular (no doubt the stress of these were a factor). However, other factors likely contributed to the Mayan collapse/decline: recent excavations of mass graves of royals seem to indicate massacres from a revolt or internal strife; warfare appears to have transformed from limited campaigns into expeditions to capture prisoners for human sacrifice; there is some evidence of epidemics; an increase in population to the point that when trade routes became disrupted the urban centers could not be supported; and there is some evidence of invasion by foreign tribes. My guess is numerous factors combined to produce a catastrophe.

Joseph Tainter in his book “The Collapse of Complex Societies” argues that as societies become more complex they must “innovate” to solve increasingly complex problems. That is, new technologies, or government bureaucracies, or even a new social class are required. At some point, according to Tainter, a society’s ability to “innovate” decreases. There is a “diminishing return on the energy (human and natural resources) expended to solve a problem” and thus the society collapses or is absorbed into a more “efficient” neighbor.

Tainter’s book is an economic and material approach to the topic of civilizational collapse. So is Jared Diamond’s problematic book “Guns, Germs, and Steel.” So is Eric Cline’s “1177 BC: The Year Civilization Collapsed” (this book is about the Bronze Age Collapse in the eastern Mediterranean, the problems with this book actually begin with the title itself, which, if I recall, the author later admitted was sensationalized and misleading).

While there are a few insights in those books, the authors emphasize economics, technology, weather and archaeological data, etc. What is missing is an analysis of the religion of these civilizations and their cultural practices. Child sacrifice, occult rituals against political opponents, vulgar entertainment, and secularized education can damage civilizational morale and increase the likelihood of civilizational collapse when under stress by drought or epidemic.

True, Jesus Christ founded a Church and not a civilization. Though as Bryan Ward-Perkins shows in “The Fall of Rome and the End of Civilization” the bloodshed, misery, and lost souls that result from a civilizational collapse implies that civilization is something worth maintaining.

The path to the New Jerusalem runs through the vineyards of the Lord. Civilizational morale is effected negatively by the vulgar or diabolical goings-on in secular culture, and positively by reverent worship, sacred liturgy, and faith in action in the public square. “Save the Liturgy, Save the World.”
