13 Sept: Ramsgate, Kent – Missa Cantata – TLM

This just in:

There will be a Sung Tridentine / Extraordinary Form / 1962 Missal Mass at St Ethelbert’s in Ramsgate, Kent, this coming Saturday, September 13 at 2.00pm. Everybody is welcome to attend. Whilst we have had low Mass every week for the last couple of years this will, I think, be the first Missa Cantata since the introduction of the Novus Ordo Missae.

The pastor of this parish is a classmate of mine from my canonical studies and an altogether fine chap. He used to celebrate the TLM in the residents’ chapel of our dormitory in Ottawa. The chapel was a shag-carpeted nightmare of a place, but Fr. Fisher made it a small glimpse of heaven each day.

He also attempted to introduce me to the glories of marmite, but don’t hold that against him!

Thank you for posting this. Passing the word around so that the faithful may attend is a great idea!

  4. Thank you Tim. But Marmite is the most wonderful stuff ever created. And it was a pretty horrible room wasn’t it. Nothing remotely prayerful about it. But horrible as it was we were still able to offer the Sacrifice there. Ah do you remember me presiding at the bilingual Novus Ordo Mass for the feast of St Raymond. I don’t think Roman vestments had been seen in that chapel in many a long year!!!
