“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Dear Lord Jesus, you promised us that every time we held up Your Agonizing Crucifix against evil, you would open Heaven and pour out your Precious Blood to subdue that evil. We come before You to plead with You for our country. We are on the verge of a critical election that will reshape all that we hold sacred, all that we hold dear. We are too small in number and strength to fight this battle alone, we need Your help.
So we come to You, Our Savior and Lord, with great confidence in Your love and mercy, and beg you to help us and save our country from the evil that threatens to destroy us. You are Almighty, You can do anything. We plead with You to open Heaven and send out your angels to touch the hearts of all and turn their hearts back to You. Let them see the candidates for who they truly are and we plead with you to convict the consciences of all people. Give us a ruler after Your own Heart, that we may have a long and peaceful life upon our land.
We beg this grace of You in union with the Sorrowful Heart of Your Mother at the foot of the Cross; the tears, pleadings and sufferings of the 54 million aborted babies; and in union with all the Masses and prayers, sacrifices, joys and sufferings of all the angels and saints of Heaven, the poor souls in Purgatory and all the just on the face of the earth from the beginning of time until You come again. Amen.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..Amen

I pray and I hope God sends His Spirit into the hearts of all nations.
And Obama through ACORN may be getting help from the Catholic Church. This is why I have never and will never give a dime in a second collection:

Some of God’s greatest work is in the face of evil. Lord, how big will you let the monster get before you slay it?
Someone asked me why we vote on a Tuesday. After some reflection, I have come to believe that we vote on a Tuesday because the divine hand of providence has seen fit to have us vote on a day when the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary are prayed. I would humbly offer that everyone pray them today and ask our Lord, for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, to have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Either way, God will have willed it.
Either way, God will have willed it? That lets us all of the hook, denies our free will and relieves us of all responsibility, doesn’t it? Rather too convenient, if you ask me, which you didn’t, but I’m saying it anyway.
The Catholic Church teaches that we have to co-operate with God’s plan and His grace and that we will be held accountable for our actions (or lack thereof).
So…does it sound like God says: Oh, don’t worry about it, either way, I willed it.” Does it?
Either way, God will have willed it.

Of course, there is the concept of God’s permissive will, by which he permits evil to happen.
The Catholic Church teaches that we have to co-operate with God’s plan and His grace and that we will be held accountable for our actions (or lack thereof).

Yes, we do have to cooperate with God’s Will. And how is that possible? By the supernatural gift of Cooperating Grace.
As it pertains to the CCHD, clearly the right hand does not know what the LEFT hand is doing.
Weeds and wheat…weeds and wheat.
God bless,

I think it is worth praying Abp. Carroll’s “Prayer for Government” today.
How do you say (write) “I voted” in Latin?
Vote your conscience today. What a precious gift to be able to do so.
Mike
I humbly agree with Trevor. That is the simple truth. St. Padre Pio left his convent for one thing…to vote! Let us do our part and trust in our Savior whatever the outcome.

Deferring to those more knowledgable, “suffragavi” should be the translation.

If Obama should win, we need to double our efforts to pray for his conversion to the “right to life” before it becomes a “hate crime” to do so.
I will be attending an EF Mass this afternoon, where my intentions will be for this election. May a true Culture of Life be born in this country. Our Lady of Victory, pray for us!
I predict we will get Obama. A nation gets the leaders it deserves, and though we don’t need Obama, the immorality of our nation suggests we deserve him.
Lee,
I think you misunderstood my point. Whatever the outcome of the election, we shouldn’t fall victim to despair, since this is all in God’s plan.
I said nothing about ceasing pro-life efforts. Nor did I say that Joe Voter would be free from culpability for his choice of action.
Point taken, Trevor. But God’s permitting evil is not the same as His willing it. He can make good come out of it, but not because He willed the evil to happen. That’s what I was addressing. To speak of His “permissive will” could lead some to think that you might be implying the God might have willed something evil.
But then there is that other excellent point made by athanasius. Perhaps the U.S. did get the leader it deserved. The recent conversations I’ve had with pro-Obama supporters certainly seem to point in that direction, that they are getting who they deserve. And everyone of them is either misinformed about what the Church teaches, what the Bible says, or simply have no religion other than some nebulous “belief” in an amorphous “God” who has no place in their lives, their politics or their world. Oy, it’s enough to make my blood boil! (I’ll bet it would make St. Teresa’s blood boil too!)
We, the faithful, must now become prayer warriors and pray like never before. And find a way to work with so much open opposition with fearless charity. I think much and deep prayer, reception of the Sacraments–and sacrifices, rosaries prayed and Holy Hours made for reparation for sins–must be the key to that. Lord, help us. Lord, have mercy.
