Grassroots Films does great work, the “Fishers of Men” recruitment video is exceptional.

Abp. Dolan is a joy to listen to. As a priest working in, but not of, the archdiocese of New York, I have been very impressed with the recent vocation material, in print, on the web, and now this. The harvest here in this local church is complex and challenging, but nonetheless rich and rewarding. May many more accept the brand marks, as Dolan says,–i.e. stigmata, in Paul’s language–of Christ the High Priest and Shepherd.

  3. Ruben says:

The look of pure happiness on the faces of the men being ordained was quite striking.

  4. Jack Hughes says:

Finally it seems that some folks get it, Show young Cathoic men what the priesthood is and the seminaries will be overflowing, make the priesthood something to aspire to and they’ll hear the call.

  5. Bogna says:

One big thing to improve – communion on the tongue – OK, it would be so much better if people were kneeling.

  6. “Their ordination is God’s doing, not ours. That this is a pure gift from God, not an earned trophy. That his call trumps our Curriculum Vitae.” Amen! Amen! Alleluia! Are you listening, those who think women have a “right” to ordination?

    Goosebumps.

When Abp Dolan was still in our neck of the woods, my husband attended a mens’ retreat day. He has been forever changed by it. He immediately shared with me the Fishers of Men video, which is stunning. Check it out and pass it on! (Dr. Eric has so kindly posted the link.)

Having been present for the ordinations of two very dear friends, it has always struck me at my very core that their ordinations are for them what our wedding Mass was for me and my husband. Of course they look so happy!!

    Pray for priests!!!

I purchased 2 copies of the Fishers of Men video to show to my Confirmation students last year, I loved it and I hope it touched them somewhat. I should donate a copy to the parish I worked at. I posted this on my facebook page with the comment, the one thing I’ve noticed about those about to be ordained they almost always smiling. A deacon who was at my parish for the summer was ordained on Saturday, and he’s young and tells Church teaching as it is and isn’t afraid to tell you what the Church teaches and why, he is and will be a blessing to the diocese of Paterson. :)

Beautiful!! Grassroots does indeed to excellent work. Their vocations video (linked above) is spectacular, and they’re currently working on a feature film called “The Human Experience,” which I saw at an advanced screening. It’s phenomenal.

I miss Abp Dolan! God has called him to shepherd the folks in NYC, and how much beautiful fruit that will bear!

    Amen!

Fishers of Men is a great video. They showed it at our parish about a year ago. They managed to show many dimensions of the priesthood from the mundane to the dramatic and managed to make tradition look radical. All things that are great in my book. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

As a young man considering entering the Seminary I found His Excellency’s homily especially moving and poignant. This is arguably the greatest vocations video I have ever seen, along with Fishers of Men.

  12. ChantalM says:

Wow, wow, and WOW!! Incredible. I especially was moved, and always am, moved when the soon-to-be priests prostrate themselves during the Litany of the Saints. And so young! About dang time that Abp.Dolan says what needs to be said; it’s a calling from God, not a right conferred upon by men. I’ve know some incredible priests in the last few years, and it was very clear to me that they were set apart by God. I especially remember Fr. Andrew on the East Coast of Canada back at WYD ’08; you could tell he was in the honeymoon phase of his priesthood. Thank you Father for posting this.

  13. Liz F says:

Beautiful. That brought tears to my eyes. That is so comforting in times such as these! I love that it’s the year of the priest!
