Do check this out.
It doesn’t surprise me at all that the old European guard of aging hippy lefites is purging good young Americans from Roman institutions such as the Biblicum. Some of the these new, young, American Jesuits are really impressive.
I know for a fact that there is a tidal wave of conservative Jesuits coming down the pike in the New Orleans Province.
Are you suggesting that Wellhausen’s ghost left Tuebingen for Rome?
Salutationes omnibus.
We have a share of that tidal wave moving in next to St. Thomas More on Summit Ave, Father. I met the novice-master on retreat. They’ll be working with Catholic Charities and the Franciscan Brothers of Peace, I believe.
sadly it seems that the here in the UK the jesuits are still concerned with ‘social justice’ and ‘climate change’ more than the salvation of souls
It will be interesting to see what they do. Their primary ministry absolutely will be about aiding the poor in our area. The novice-master seems to have his head screwed on correctly. I guess we will tell them by their fruits. Am I jaded?
Good to see that the Society has a new crop faithful to their roots coming along–God prosper them, AMDG! There is a great deal of good left in the Jesuits that would be lost if (as some have only half-jokingly suggested) the Pope supressed them again. The giants of the Order (I have a book called “Generation of Giants” about the early China mission from Ricci/Valignano on) are very much worthy of emulation.
Read all three articles. I’m impressed and encouraged … and I’ve added NJR to my Favorites.
Sorry, no Jesuits for me. Don’t want any subtexts sneaking in. Don’t trust them. May never trust them again.
