A 1st Holy Roman Communion

This is the season of First Holy Communions.

A dear friend in Rome, the great Fabrizio, had the pleasure of seeing his oldest son, Francesco, receive the Eucharist for the first time at the Roman parish SS. Trinita dei Pelegrini, which is the Extraordinary Form parish church in Rome.

Happily another friend, John Sonnen of Orbis Catholicus, took a couple photos.

I don’t know… destined for great things?

Well, if that shaft of light is anything to go by…

That cassock may turn red, or white! ;-)

Beautiful. May this be just the beginning of a grace-filled life for this little boy.

What a stark contrast to the story posted earlier, of the little boy, probably similar in age, who was murdered in Afghanistan. May he rest in peace.

There’s a plenary indulgence for anyone who assists at a Mass at which someone receives First Holy Communion…

Surely that light shaft is from some deftly placed spotlight, no? Is that natural light? If so, it’s extraordinary.

  7. RichR says:

It looks like something you’d see on a “First Baptism” Certificate from before the Council.

I saw these pictures on John’s blog-just wondrous!

Perhaps another Dominic Savio in the works? [yeah, I know his name’s Francesco ; ) ]
