May he rest in peace…
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. I pray he has already heard those beautiful words, well done my good and faithful servant, now enter in to the joy of your Masters house.
May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercies of God, rest in peace.
May he rest in peace.
How could a member of the “religion of peace” do such a thing?
Here’s the piece on the website of our general curia. Requiescat in pace.
Fr. Z, you say you believe that this wasn’t based on anti-Catholic Islamist terrorism. On what do you base that, or are you being sarcastic? If the latter, I wouldn’t blame you. Turkey now has an Islamist government that seeks closer ties with Iran. PM Erdogun actually asked Israelis to overthrow the Netenyahu government over the flotilla incident.
Requiescat in pace.
Murder is usually occurs between close parties, spouses, family members or close acquaintances and disgruntled employees are near the top as well. So, this fits the usual pattern, and I would not jump to the conclusion that this is some sort of act of religious fervor run amok, and besides, Turkey has been the most secularized of all “Islamic” countries, with a fair amount of tolerance for Christians over many years.
It seems the suspect was, and had been for some years, in the service of the bishop’s household – possibly his driver. Some reposrts say the suspect is Catholic, though these are conflicting.
There seems to be consensus around only one fact: the man was mentally disturbed.
C.
Lord rest him.
It appears that the previous opinion will have to be revised.
The murderer had no history of mental illness, and his claim of depression shortly before the murder is now suspected to be a ruse and a standard M.O. of a Turkish Islamic terror organization.
The bishop’s head was severed and the murderer was shouting “Allahu Akbar . . . . I killed the great satan!”
