My daughter loves the Feeder pictures. thanks, Fr. Z!
beautiful!! thank you, Fr. Z.!
Thank you,! I love your feeder pictures, too. We don’t get quite the variety in our backyard as you do. Especially love the photos of the Cardinals, they are not residents of So Cal.
Beautiful!
Just received the Thayer birding software as a gift . . . using the sound clips to bring in some new birds. We now have a catbird!!!
Wow, wow. What beauties! I would have a hard time getting anything done with all the pretty birds outside my window.
frjim4321, That’s a cool idea. I have tried that in luring in Purple Martins, no luck yet, but we have a house ready in case they decide to drop in. We have seen them in our neighborhood.
Wanda, per a piece on NPR two weeks ago it’s considered “okay” for birders to use sounds clips very judiciously (for example using an iPhone); however it can become abusive. I have to be careful to turn the clip off as soon as I see the catbird, otherwise he will beat himself up running into my windows!
Good advice, frjim. I’ve only tried the bird call a few times. I carry my lap top out onto the porch, what couple of times I’ve noticed the Martins circling high above. I will be careful with the birds. Thank you.
I was in the Hoosier National Forest today and got to see an Eagle in the wild! Awesome! I also got to see tons of Indigo Buntings! Got to see a River Otter also! Our National Forests are awesome!
Birds like those in the pictures are one of the reasons I believe in Creation. Beautiful.
Wanda, bless you for trying to save our little endangered friends the Purple Martins! (Well, ok, not “little”– biggest in swallow family). Just make sure to watch the artificial nests like a hawk, or unwanted and aggressive intruders may appear.
Hello Random Friar, We have waited and still hope to get the Martins interested in living here!
We have to keep the holes in the bird house capped because if we didn’t the ubiquitous House Sparrows and Starlings would barge right on in. So the trick, I guess, is to be here when and if the Martins come swooping in for a closer look! That happened last Summer, it was a riot, my hubby and I were out there trying to lower the house, open the holes and get it back up! The Martins were swooping back and forth around us! I loved it, unfortunately, they did not stay. :(
But we’re still at it! We can’t give up! Thanks for your note and happy bird-watching to you.
