The calm before the storm…
Shoot – they’ve got more than game. They’ve got the voices of the angels! Beautiful! I love, love, love this! My goosebumps have goosebumps!
Magnificent! There’s hope for the world yet.
Truly beautiful…
But did any of you see the gorilla?
He wrote a Christmas lullaby a couple of years ago called “Bullalow” which I’ve sung a couple of times and has the same broad melodic structures and dissonant deviances.
His work is publised by OUP and is available via the RSCM.
Another composer of note is Gabriel Jackson. When B16 was at Westminster Abbey one of his motets was sung outside the vestry.
Beautiful. To me most modern music is like nails on a chalkboard but this one was excellent.
Lovely video-and yes, that choir DID look very young! But they sounded like adults!
Was it filmed in the chapel at the Palace of Versailles?
JonPatrick-I agree with you about most modern music. I don’t like the atonal stuff. Lately I found a choral program on Sunday mornings that often features new compositions; I end up turning it off because i can’t stand the dissonance! I’d like to send some of these ‘composers’ back to school so that they can write PROPER MUSIC! Aagh….!
OK, they’ve got game. But couldn’t the young ladies get clothes? At least in church, dress decently.
“…(they look like babies)…”
*chuckling* I recently volunteered to chaperone some kids for the March for Life. Some of the young men, high school sophomores mind you, looked to me like they couldn’t be a day past 11!
jcr, I guess the skirts might be a little longer, but they looked pretty decent to me.
..And..not to toot my own horn too much, but..that’s the sort of music that our adult choir has been doing for awhile. Even better though, our teen choir(s?) have a rather substantial number of kids–mostly girls, admittedly, but we’ve got to start somewhere. They sound AWESOME! With polyphony no less!
Nice to hear a good, classical piece by a composer past 1970.
