About this blog…
“This blog is like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” – Fr. Z

Wonderful about St. Joseph! “Terror of Demons”
- The most evident mark of God’s anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clerics who are priests more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds.

This REALLY helps! And it’s great coffee (and tea)
I use this when I travel both in these USA and abroad. Very useful. Fast enough for Zoom. I connect my DMR (ham radio) through it. If you use my link, they give me more data. A GREAT back up.
Get ready…
Don’t rely on popes, bishops and priests.
“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”- Fulton Sheen

As for Latin…
"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II

Let us pray…
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

The local TLM community has planned a workshop on participation in the Extraordinary Form, something I greatly appreciate as a newcomer!

Respect for Rights of Conscience Act needs to be voted into law to Control Obamacare. Number one on our agenda/to do list: call/email/write our Reps.
We found out last week my husband as been accepted into the Diaconate Formation Program in the Diocese of Arlington, VA!
Several prayers have been answered….
and I made my weekly confession. I feel so much better. :)
My good news: Clean bill of health as far as blood tests are concerned, after not getting blood work done for quite some time. There are a few areas of concern in my family history that, thankfully, are not showing up in my system for now.
I think one of the priests in my parish may be building up to doing the Eucharistic Prayers in Latin. He started out small a few weeks ago, just chanting “mysterium fidei,” but yesterday he did the doxology as well. Actually, he chanted most of the Mass and used incense, neither of which occur very often.
That and I got stopped on my way into Mass to give my opinion to a reporter about Card. George’s letter on the HHS mandate. I have no idea if it aired or not (I couldn’t remember what channel the reporter was from), but I still got to rep for His Eminence. So that was nice.
Confession yesterday, deo gratias. Macbook Air on order and being shipped. :-D
This weekend, despite my wife’s comment that I was working on yet another unfinsihed project, I made THE PERFECT through mortise and tenon joint on a step stool I’m building for the dog (she’s 14 and can’t jump up on the bed any more). It was perfectly square and the tenon fit snug. It took me twenty minutes to set up the cut (and test it on scrap wood) but it was worth it.
Thank you St Jospeh!!
A few years ago I had a partial blockage in a carotid artery and had to have it operated on. last week got a clean bill of health, 3 years now with no measurable change. Should be good as long as I stick to my diet (well I did go out over the weekend and have a steak to celebrate!). Deo Gratias!
Also my son who recently moved to Maine to take a new job up there is doing well and came down for a visit this weekend.
My Deacon Formation Class has been given the date of Nov. 16, 2013 for Ordination to the Permanant Diaconate. Five years seemed like a very long time, at first. Now, with just over 180 days to go, it suddenly seems a little more real. The rest of my class and I would greatly appreciate you and your readers’ prayers. We still have a lot of classes, evaluations, and interviews, etc., but with the Grace of God, and the call of the Bishop, it could really happen!
Two posters vying for the Diaconate – yay! Prayers are headed your way, gentlemen!
As for me, my 2 year old son knelt as I accepted Eucharist on Sunday! He’s been getting pretty coordinated with his stooping, but he actually dropped both his little knees to the floor as he followed Mommy’s example.
Then, as we were leaving the Church, I always genuflect before the Tabernacle and have been teaching him to say “Bye Bye, Jesus” so he understands why we genuflect. He said it himself today without any prompting (and also while attempting to kneel). The visiting priest tousled his hair and our deacon gave him a high-five for his efforts.
Ah, there aren’t words to describe the joy and pride my heart has been so blessed with through my little angel. :)
Little by little, he’s learning!
On Friday, 17 Feb 2012, we’re being visited by Canon Jean-Marie Moreau of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, who will offer the Votive Mass of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord for us at St. Titus Church in Aliquippa, PA. Canon Moreau is currently in the Philippines touring Latin Mass communities there and it will be interesting to hear about his trip.
Also, beginning this month, there are now First Friday devotions to the Sacred Heart, including confession & Divine Liturgy, at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Aliquippa.
My parish back home which is notorious for not having confessions, now has a regularly scheduled confession time for a whopping 1 hr that isn’t Saturday at 4:00 pm. I am impressed.
I haven’t received a rejection email yet from the job I had an interview for a week ago, and my references have been called (and are now acting peculiar…more so than usual).
I got reprimanded for making a not so great confession, forcing me to re-examine how to make a good confession again. I also now see why one should do a daily examination of conscience.
Expecting #4.
My wife and I are expecting our first child. Huzzah!
My newborn, Joseph Ignatius, will be baptized using the Extraordinary Form Rite this coming Sunday.
My husband got a new job last week, and the day after he was offered the job, an offer was made to buy our house, even though it hadn’t been put up for sale yet! Our Lord is making it easy for us to move. Now we just have to find a house on the other end and everything will be in place.
@JaneC
Isn’t funny how things just fall into place sometimes?
My 86 year old mother will be received into the Church this week. Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. God is good!
Saint Paul Radio will start broadcasting in about a month as the first Catholic radio station in Georgia. I can’t wait to listen in on the way to work!
I might be getting a paying job for the first time since 2010.
With flexible hours too!
Shoveling manure and emptying buckets of guts and vomit. [How offal! I hope you don’t chuck the job.]
This is actually, in all-reality, good news.
In the past week I have been formally notified that the first of the two required marriage tribunals has found in my favor. It will be in the hands of the second tribunal within the month and their decision should be forthcoming within four months thereafter.
Deo gratias,
Keith Töpfer
Tomorrow, Valentine’s Day, the 8AM Mass will be offered for my beloved departed spouse. I didn’t schedule it to be tomorrow, the church office did so I am very pleased. My husband was a baptized and confirmed Catholic but fell away from the Church and belief in God. I pray that somehow, some way, Our Lord was able to offer mercy.
Choir practice this evening – balm for the soul.
The Ordinary Form Mass this week by a young pastor was Sacred and Holy.
My birthday, TLM, made special prayers of dedication to God, my boss invited me for lunch…better will be in Heaven!
