REQUEST TO READERS: 100,000 MEMORARES IN MAY as a Spiritual Bouquet promoted by Bp. Finn

Please use the sharing buttons!  Thanks!

Here is a great project promoted by His Excellency Most Rev. Robert Finn, Bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph.

I am especially happy to promote this, because the Memorare is one of my favorite prayers, and I say it after every Mass for a short list of bishops.

Please take this project to heart!

100,000 MEMORARES IN MAY

In the month of May, we honor Mary and seek her intercession. Please join us as we pray the Memorare — or other prayers – for the special intentions of Bishop Finn and the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.

Please go to this site HERE to share with us your prayers for these intentions.

For those without the electronic means to share your prayers with us, please send a note to Patty Montes in the Bishop’s Office, 20 West 9th Street, Kansa City, MO 64105 with the number of Memorares your apostolate is praying so that this Spiritual Bouquet may be complete. Our goal is to dedicate 100,000 memorares during the month of May.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

  1. I signed the Spiritual Bouquet and passed this along to my forum members. Thanks for letting us know, Fr. Z.

I have communicated with Bishop Finn in the past and found that he is a wonderful bishop.

The Memorare is one of my favorites, too.
Early in the current school year, I had given Holy Cards to my students with the prayer on one side. Having extras, I gave one to all the teachers and staff. My efforts to ensure that the 7th and 8th graders knew basic Catholic prayers was rewarded with, “What now? What is this?” by the principal. She was not pleased, but what do you want from someone who received their graduate degree from a Jesuit college – in theology, no less? Of course, she doesn’t know what it means to be Catholic!

It wonderful to see bishops promoting prayer as a means to promote the growth of the Church. Spiritual activities seem to be forgotten when talk of diocesan reform is made. That probably is the problem in many dioceses in the US. It is wonderful to see a bishop who takes prayer seriously. God bless him!

  4. Bea says:

I sent it to my Catholic Daughters of America prayer chain in our State for them all to join.
Yes, what I’ve heard and read about him, he’s a great bishop. His goodness made him an easy target.

I’ll sign up for this too, and will get the word out here in Pennsylvania.
It is just imperative that we seek out Mary for help.
Where would we be without her? Jesus knew, and He saved one of his last gifts to the world as His very best.

    PAX
155 just pledged, from Sydney, Australia — so we can have 24×7 prayer cover!! Thank you so much for posting this, Father. Our beloved clergy and prelates, and most certainly men like Bishop Finn, need our prayers, our penances and our practical support! I shall now spread this a little further… Oremus!
St. Joseph the Worker, ora pro nobis!
    In Jesu et Maria.

    Dear Fr. Z,

The Memorare is also one of my favorite prayers and I plan to say it several times daily during the month of May. Would you consider showing this prayer instead of the prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary when clicking her picture on the right side bar during the month of May? This would serve as a good reminder for all your readers. Thank you!

Praying away here on the West Coast! I’m also saying Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the bishop and his diocese. Amen, amen.
