Readers want me to fisk one of our favorite contributors to the National Catholic Fishwrap, the perennial Sr. Maureen Fiedler. Alas, I two tags for Sister, the other is here.
This week Sister has knuckle-slapped the Bishops of Wisconsin for not defending the poor, the oppressed, the unions and the union-backed candidate in the recent gubernatorial election in which Gov. Walker handily prevailed.
The Wisconsin bishops were silent! How dare they not speak out?
On the other hand, the Bishops of Minnesota have consistently and vigorously defending natural marriage.
Has Sr. Fiedler praised the Bishops of Minnesota for their bold public statements in this the matter of this great social issue?
I don’t remember seeing her praise of Archbishop Nienstedt of St. Paul and Minneapolis and the other bishops for being so active in the public square.

Evidently, bishops should only enter the public square when it suits the left. [That is clearly what NCR thinks.]
It reminds me
of another inconsistency among ‘progressives’: on the one hand, they express outrage
over the (supposed) silence of the Pope and bishops when millions of innocents died in
nazi camps– yet on the other hand these same folks complain that when the Pope and our
bishops speak out on the slaughter of millions of innocents by abortion, then they are (gasp!)
interfering in politics.
umm, judging by the salaries of just one union, the American Teacher’s Federation in Wisconsin, I hardly call them poor. Sadly, people of the entitlement generation do not know what poor is….
The Church should consider throwing away its tax exempt status (Let’s face it, the enemy is actively trying to take that away from the Church anyway, might as well move first and catch them off guard, it will be a decision the enemy will regret), then the Church can more actively enter into the political arena and call out evil and evil politicians for what they are and actively back candidates that are of actual moral integrity!
