- Israel will attack Iran (this one’s running for the 3rd consecutive year)
- SCOTUS will rule in favor of the bishops on the HHS Mandate
- Pope Benedict will still be Pope
- Bishop Finn (still there!) will formally condemn the Fishwrap
- The Year of Faith will close; Pope Benedict will issue an encyclical on faith
- The Church of England will find a way to approve women bishops
- More Anglicans will join the Ordinariate
- Bishop Morlino of Madison will be invited as keynote speaker to LCWR Annual Assembly
- Italy will have another government (for a while)
- Fr. Z will still not be a Monsignor

Yes . . .but what of the SSPX . . .??? . . .
That is the difficult prediction . . There are too many wrecked diocese with third rate clergy unwilling to see the error of their ways for any meaningful position to be found for the SSPX.
Yes, there are difficult people of a narrow minded disposition in the SSPX, but there are many more who could be out there reforming the wrecked diocese . . .here in the UK, I attended midnight mass in our local parish . . .cringingly embarrassing, numbers going down even for Christmas. Thankfully we had an insult mass for Christmas morning . . But the real deal is the SSPX . . .
Archbishop Nichols ( Westminster ) has just asked all Catholics to write to our MP’s on the Gay marriage issue . . .why should we bother . .??? . . .after nearly 50 years of Ecumenism, shouldn’t he have a quiet word with our separated brethren and have the Queen sort it all out . . .??
Unless of course that Archbishop Lefebvre was right all along and that all the Ecumenical talk during and after the Council was nothing more than hot air . . .???
Come on Father, step up to the plate and agree with me that eventually the SSPX will be reconciled and that vast numbers of third rate clergy will have to be re educated.

5 and 9 are chaeating, aren’t they? I mean, they’re a little like predicting the sun will rise and set daily. As for #10, I have actually quite seriously wondered why this has not happened. I know no details, of course, but it seems a reasonable supposition that this blog operates with (dare I say it?) “Becket consent”* from on high. To whom should we write to encourage appropriate honours be bestowed during the year of faith on you, for doing so much to promote authentic faith and worship? Seriously…PCED? Who? I will use your tips for writing to authorities, I promise…..
*Becket consent – St. Thomas Becket, former Abp. Of Canterbury, had excommunicated several of his opponents in the church, the news of which reached his King, Henry. Upon hearing reports of Becket’s actions, Henry is said to have uttered words that were interpreted by his men as wishing Becket killed, without actually ordering that it be done. Whatever Henry said, it was interpreted as a royal command, and four knights set out to confront the Archbishop of Canterbury, murdering him in cold blood on 29 December 1170 in his church. The term “Becket consent” therefore refers to any situation where a person in authority expresses a desire in such a way that his subordinates believe that action in furtherance of that desire would be pleasing to their superior.

Israel will attack Iran (one of these years I’ll be right about this).
NCR will name an old, disgruntled, liberal woman religious (or maybe a few) as person of the year.
H.E. Most Rev. Robert Finn will still be Bishop in Kansas-City-St. Joseph.
Egypt will become an Islamic Republic.
Benedict XVI will do something significant to support the Extraordinary Form.
The Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerant Peoples will issue a document saying that passports should no longer be required.
Kim Jong Un will no longer be permitted to cut his own hair.
Massive election fraud will confuse the vote on the pro-marriage amendment for the Constitution of Minnesota.
The Synod on New Evangelization will be held; then everyone will go home.
Women will not be ordained deacons. (Good for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016…)
L’Osservatore Romano will start publishing a singles section. (They already have the funnies everyday.)
I will have at least one book ready for publication.
The Euro will tank.
The SSPX will not be yet reconciled.
Several dioceses in Ireland will be suppressed or combined.
Pres. Obama will not be re-elected.
The Cubs will not win the World Series.
NCR will, finally, be officially reprimanded for using the word “Catholic”.
Benedict will still be Pope at the end of 2012.
Prediction: Bishop Olmsted will be named Archbishop of Chicago.
@BaedaBenedictus, I believe a conservative case can be made for just this: Firstly, look at the statute’s text, specifically Section 2. POWERS RESERVED TO THE STATES.(a) IN GENERAL.:” — Chapter 115 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by adding after section 1738B the following:
Section 1738C. Certain acts, records, and proceedings and the effect thereof
‘No State, territory, or possession of the United States, or Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a relationship between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right or claim arising from such relationship.'”
Secondly, look at Article IV, Section 1 of the Constitution of the United States:”Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.”
Since it may follow the Constitution is forcing some effect, to not do so would violate Article IV, Section 1, furthermore, if Section 2(a) is inseverable, the whole statute must be declared unconstitutional.
I will now deal with a counterargument, namely, “Congress is simply saying, ‘Article IV, Section 1 does not force the several States to abide by the homosexual “marriage” records of another State,” there is another problem. Article III, Section 1 states in part (emphasis added), “The judicial Power of the United States shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.” The Supreme Court of the United States, in Marbury v. Madison, established the principle of “Judicial Review” on this Section. Since interpretation of the Constitution, and declaratory and injunctive relief, are the very essence of Judicial Review, it follows the Legislative and Executive branches were exercising judicial power afforded neither, and the counterargument fails.
Since the Amendment to the Constitution of California is implicitly severable,only the phrase, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is… recognized in California”, since it relies on the Defense of Marriage Act, is Federally unconstitutional.
P.S. I am not specially legally trained AT ALL, just a person exercising common sense.

And one of the Sisters in attendance will pull the fire alarm at the hotel where the assembly is
taking place, forcing everyone to evacuate the building right in the middle of his speech.

You want to wait awhile anyway so you can at least bypass first being named Chaplain of His
Holiness and be able to wear the purple cassock of an Honorary Prelate of His Holiness.
I have a more likely prediction than the LCWR one that’s pretty good: Bishop Morlino will be invited as keynote speaker to the Society of St Vincent de Paul National Assembly. That meeting is in Madison in 2013 and he and our local SVDP are not on bad terms as far as I can tell, and it is customary for the local ordinary to give the keynote.
Also, Medjugorje will be declared “Constat de non supernaturalitate” by Pope Benedict, some time during the Year of Faith.
Also, Fr Z will still be President of the Tridentine Mass Society of Madison, the members of which will unanimously support that he is deserving to be a Monsignor.
