Off to Phoenix.
I could use some prayers for this cold!

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

PLEASE subscribe via PayPal if it is useful. Zelle and Wise are better, but PayPal is convenient.
A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Welcome to Phoenix Fr Z!
5-day forecast here in our fair city: 71 tomorrow but dropping over the next several days. Any plans for a wild west blognic?
Prayers for your safe travels, Fr. Z. Enjoy the warmer climes, as well.
P.S. I was happy to spot a Goldfinch (?) on Z-Cam!
I see two Tom Clancy (& co-writer) books in your seat back. If you like those kinds of novels, I have some other authors I can recommend in that espionage/military thriller genre: Alex Berenson, Daniel Silva, Brad Thor, David Hagberg, Andrew Kaplan, Dalton Fury, Robert Ludlum and Vince Flynn.
Prayers for your cold to go away. I have had a cold for five days, highly unusual for me, complete with sneezing, coughing, ear ache, sore throat….Sincerely hope you are not experiencing the whole enchilada.
Hot toddies sound good to me, as I sit here with Lemsip (sneeze).
That looks like the seat I was in awhile back. Cool. (I don’t recall those books being there, but I wasn’t paying attention, so who knows.)
Where are you going to be here? I’ll come a-runnin’!
Praying for you! Have a safe trip, Father.
Boring view! I enjoyed the Z-cam today, thank you Father for all your great work.
Prayers for a safe trip.
Father, prayers for your cold and your three, ongoing intentions. May I ask: what more can you tell us about the new extraordinary daily offering image appearing in your side bar?
Father, prayers.

Fr., in the unlikely event you are not already committed for the duration of your visit, might I invite you to EF Mass at Mater Misericordiae, a mission of the FSSP and the Diocese of Phoenix?

Blessings on your travels, your visit, and Prayers for your cold and your three intentions!
Pax Christi,

Hope it was a good trip.
I used to like Clancy before he started getting so political.
Totally agree with acardnl, David Hagberg is a fantastic writer!
Allan S: Filippino Lippi.
I’ll take you to Adoration 11 pm – Midnight.
Fr. Z, Fr. Z!! My daughter, carrying my granddaughter that is due to make her appearance any day, is an NFP practitioner at the Phoenix Diocese in the evenings! If you see a beautiful young woman with an extraordinary smile and 9 months with child, please tell her I love her!
(I should mention NFP works both ways, she was told “it would be a miracle if you ever conceive” and, well, what do you know, do things according to Church teachings and look what can happen! Prayers please for her, baby girl and son-in-law!)
Welcome to Phoenix!
Are you traveling incognito, or can fans meet you someplace?
Wish I could be there. It’s not that far but far enough.
The weather is warming here in AZ. Maybe this will be the cure for your cold.
A very close friend of my daughter works in the chancery offices I wonder if you’ll run into her.
Lovely young lady. I know her since kindergarten days.
Praying!
I am so jealous of the Diocese of Phoenix with their wonderful Bishop. An excellent man!
We are south of Phoenix. While our Bishop is a fine human being, we don’t quite see eye to eye on maters of the faith. And, he is not nearly as supportive of the extraordinary form as he should be.
Hope you have a nice visit. Enjoy the weather.
Blognic?
Ralph
I’m in the same diocese.
I feel just like you do.
“Not nearly as supportive of the EF as he should be” is an understatement as to what we’ve experienced and heard from others in other parishes.
Welcome to Phoenix. Blognic?
Bea,
Without naming the parish (s) or the pastor (s) (for fear of reprisal) – when the bishop learned that the pastor had been approached by “a stable group” about starting a regular extraordinary form mass (which the said group was willing to finance) – he called and put a stop to it. He feels that the St. Giana Oratory and Holy Family Parish, staffed by the ICTKSP, is sufficient.
I have been told (personally) by priests that they fear strong reaction from the Bishop if they start a regular public EF Mass. With the Holy Father’s MP, he may not be able to sanction them, but he can make their life hell.
Bishop is, overall, a good and caring man. I can’t for the life of me understand his resistance.
I always try and remember to pray for him.
Ralph
A person and I were reminiscing and longing for the EF Mass.
She (a person from another parish other than mine) said “the bishop doesn’t want it” I told her “SP /MP states any priest can celebrate it or find someone to do it to satisfy the aspirations of the laity” Her shoulders sagged and said “The bishop has forbidden it”
He inherited the ICTKSP, otherwise we wouldn’t even have that.
I, too, pray that God will touch his heart and obedience to the Holy Father will prevail.
“The bishop has forbidden it”
He can’t, without a very good reason. He can only make it difficult.
The Chicken
Bea,
In charity to the Bishop,
If memory serves, he actually brought in the ICTKSP. When he first became Bishop, the St Gianna Community was meeting at St. Ambrose under the leadership of Father Rego, who drove all the way from Ajo to serve mass – the saint that he was!
After Father Rego’s untimely passing, RIP, Bishop moved the community to Holy Family and eventually placed both the community and the parish under the care of the Institute.
I feel it’s only fair to give him credit for that good work.
Mr. Chicken,
A Bishop can apply pressure in a host of ways to get what he wants. From parish assignments, poor reviews, rejection of capital funds – he holds the power.
I want to be sure to add that, although I don’t always agree with our Bishop, I don’t think him a bad man. I feel he is just of that particular generation that lost the way and has never seemed to recover.
Ralph:
Yes, the ICTKSP was brought in when the bishop brought them in after our dear Fr. Rego passed on, but I thought it was because Fr. Rego had left that stipulation when he left behind his financial legacy. I may be wrong on that.
What a loss his passing was to us all.
Were you at his funeral Mass?
Mr Chicken
I know he can’t actually forbid it, but those were the words this particular person or “the bishop won’t allow it” I don’t clearly remember if she used the words “forbid it” or “won’t allow it” either way she made the gesture of hopelessness when her shoulders just sagged.
At this point I feel the “biological solution” is our only hope for the TLM, but I still pray. God is good, all-powerful and almighty. We may be surprised when HE steps in, God Willing.
May our spiritual wasteland be turned into a blooming desert.
