I’m sorry, Father, but I don’t think you pull off the prickly, cynical facade very well even without the happy influence of good young people :)
I accepted a college-level teaching position a couple years ago, and I can definitely relate to the “shot in the arm” feeling. There is nothing like being able to spend time with younger people who share the same passions that you do.
Are you leaving already, Father?
I’ll bet you were a shot in the arm for them too, believe me.
I saw the Red Sox vs. the Blue Jays at Fenway in ’89. Wade Boggs and Roger Clements were playing. A brilliant evening!!
Sounds like a wonderful day indeed. The next time you get a chance to head that way, take a short trip up north and spend a little time at Thomas More in New Hampshire. I know the students would enjoy meeting you!
Not the place for this, but important, I think.
A short video showing Pope Francis distributing communion on the tongue and to some people kneeling. Notice that near the beginning of the video a person extended their hands but the priest motioned to the tongue.

Yes Fr. Z, please come back to Boston sometime! I couldn’t attend your Mass at St. Paul’s, but hopefully your visit has whet your appetite for another New England excursion. The next time you’re in town, make a trip out to Mary Immaculate of Lourdes in Newton Upper Falls. We have a daily TLM there, lots of young families, fantastic choir/schola, etc.!
