Obama Administration forced same-sex bathrooms, locker rooms at California schools

Remember the gender bender story from a few days ago about legislation in California that would “require public schools in his state to allow students to choose which bathrooms, locker rooms and sports teams match their gender identity.” HERE

Keep your eyes and ears open for more and more frequent use of phrases such as “biological male girl”.

There is a bit more news about that gender-social-engineering news from Life News. HERE

I’m shocked! shocked! to learn that the Obama Administration, through its Department of Justice, lead by that paragon of liberal activism AG Holder, pressured a school district through what sounds like a lot of harassment.

Obama admin forces school district to let teenage girl use boys restroom, showers, sleeping quarters
BY KIRSTEN ANDERSEN

ARCADIA, CA, July 25, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Obama administration’s Justice Department has pressured a California school district into allowing an incoming high school freshman who is anatomically female but identifies as a boy to use the restroom and changing facilities assigned to her preferred sex, rather than her biological sex.

Her family filed a federal discrimination lawsuit after the school district twice refused to allow the girl to sleep in a room with boys without a chaperone.

The Obama administration pressured the school district to allow the girl to use the boys’ facilities, saying in a letter that failure to do so constitutes sexual discrimination against “students who do not conform to sex stereotypes.”

Under a new agreement, every transgender student in the district will have full access to the opposite sex’s changing rooms and sleeping quarters during school trips.

On Wednesday, after two years of investigation by the DOJ, the school district agreed to a settlement in which they admitted no wrongdoing, but agreed to submit to the demands of the girl’s family, along with several additional DOJ orders.

Now, not only must Arcadia school officials give the girl unrestricted access to the boys’ facilities, they must also give her access to private facilities if and when she requests them.

The district must also allow her to participate in any boys-only activities she desires, both on- and off-campus, and seal all records of her birth sex and previous name to protect her new identity as a boy.

These orders apply not just to the girl in this case, but to any students who approach school administrators in the future claiming to be a different sex than their biology suggests.

The district and its administrators will be subject to continued monitoring by the DOJ and Department of Education through 2016 to ensure they comply.

  1. As it happens, this post and the picture of the President of the United States reproduced in it appears on the very day President Obama spoke about Ho Chi Minh being “inspired” by the nation’s Founding Fathers and the Declaration of Independence.

Amazing how POTUS can use that fact of history to lionize a man whose leadership led to the murder of hundreds of thousands of Catholics in Viet Nam.

  4. The Masked Chicken says:

To be very blunt, such nonsense would not even have a veneer of respectability if the public had not been conditioned by a pseudo-scientific psychological industry into thinking that feelings contained the truth of a situation. The repeated phrase, “how does that make you feel,” spoken thousands of times per hour in psychiatrists offices across the world have made the emotional the master of the physical, the opinion the master of the fact and the whiner the master of the redemptive sufferer. Add to this a theology that has allowed itself to be overly-psychologized (in cahoots with the already perverting influence of Modernism) and it is not hard to see why there were no riots in the streets about this (oh, but let it be Black boys using White boys lavatories…).

Perhaps the government is buying up all of the bullets because it knows that nature cannot long be fooled and there will come a time when the public will revolt.

Where is the fearless search for truth?

Richard Feynman, in his famous CalTech commencement speech entitled, Cargo Cult Science, wrote:

“We’ve learned from experience that the truth will come out. Other experimenters will repeat your experiment and find out whether you were wrong or right. Nature’s phenomena will agree or they’ll disagree with your theory. And, although you may gain some temporary fame and excitement, you will not gain a good reputation as a scientist if you haven’t tried to be very careful in this kind of work. And it’s this type of integrity, this kind of care not to fool yourself, that is missing to a large extent in much of the research in cargo cult science….”

“But this long history of learning how to not fool ourselves–of having utter scientific integrity–is, I’m sorry to say, something that we haven’t specifically included in any particular course that I know of. We just hope you’ve caught on by osmosis.

The first principle is that you must not fool yourself–and you are the easiest person to fool. So you have to be very careful about that. After you’ve not fooled yourself, it’s easy not to fool other scientists. You just have to be honest in a conventional way after that.”

“Other kinds of errors are more characteristic of poor science. When I was at Cornell, I often talked to the people in the psychology department. One of the students told me she wanted to do an experiment that went something like this–it had been found by others that under certain circumstances, X, rats did something, A. She was curious as to whether, if she changed the circumstances to Y, they would still do A. So her proposal was to do the experiment under circumstances Y and see if they still did A.

I explained to her that it was necessary first to repeat in her laboratory the experiment of the other person–to do it under condition X to see if she could also get result A, and then change to Y and see if A changed. Then she would know the the real difference was the thing she thought she had under control.

She was very delighted with this new idea, and went to her professor. And his reply was, no, you cannot do that, because the experiment has already been done and you would be wasting time. This was in about 1947 or so, and it seems to have been the general policy then to not try to repeat psychological experiments, but only to change the conditions and see what happened.”

“All experiments in psychology are not of this type, however. For example, there have been many experiments running rats through all kinds of mazes, and so on–with little clear result. But in 1937 a man named Young did a very interesting one. He had a long corridor with doors all along one side where the rats came in, and doors along the other side where the food was. He wanted to see if he could train the rats to go in at the third door down from wherever he started them off. No. The rats went immediately to the door where the food had been the time before.

The question was, how did the rats know, because the corridor was so beautifully built and so uniform, that this was the same door as before? Obviously there was something about the door that was different from the other doors. So he painted the doors very carefully, arranging the textures on the faces of the doors exactly the same. Still the rats could tell. Then he thought maybe the rats were smelling the food, so he used chemicals to change the smell after each run. Still the rats could tell. Then he realized the rats might be able to tell by seeing the lights and the arrangement in the laboratory like any commonsense person. So he covered the corridor, and still the rats could tell.

He finally found that they could tell by the way the floor sounded when they ran over it. And he could only fix that by putting his corridor in sand. So he covered one after another of all possible clues and finally was able to fool the rats so that they had to learn to go in the third door. If he relaxed any of his conditions, the rats could tell.

Now, from a scientific standpoint, that is an A-number-one experiment. That is the experiment that makes rat-running experiments sensible, because it uncovers that clues that the rat is really using– not what you think it’s using. And that is the experiment that tells exactly what conditions you have to use in order to be careful and control everything in an experiment with rat-running.

I looked up the subsequent history of this research. The next experiment, and the one after that, never referred to Mr. Young. They never used any of his criteria of putting the corridor on sand, or being very careful. They just went right on running the rats in the same old way, and paid no attention to the great discoveries of Mr. Young, and his papers are not referred to, because he didn’t discover anything about the rats. In fact, he discovered all the things you have to do to discover something about rats. But not paying attention to experiments like that is a characteristic example of cargo cult science.”

These poor kids are nothing more than rats in a maze – a maze of selfishness, dishonesty, and pseudo-science. None of their parents are Christian in any meaningful sense of the word, for they lack a commitment to the simple truths that are revealed to the merest of children. HG Holder is nothing more than a bully, who couldn’t argue his way out of a paper bag if he didn’t have the ability to threaten legal action standing behind him. I don’t like bullies. If the man cannot make a good case based on logic and clear, sound reasoning, then I hope he is someday able to find the humility to repent of his many, many crimes, perhaps not against the law, but of common sense.

As for the parents: simply refuse to obey. Better the school is shut down than to capitulate to evil. If they really were Christians, they would understand that Christ wasn’t exaggerating when he said that if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. If the school system causes you to sin, close it down.

Governments are supposed to be guardians of truth, safeguarding the rights of God and the people they serve by His pleasure. Our government is slowly removing the idea that either the people or a very real, very angry God stands in their way of replacing both with their own version of fiat lux.

I am surprised I didn’t hear about this earlier. Arcadia High School was one of the last places I would have sent a child. I live in the next town over. While it is eroding, this is a conservative sliver of the area (my town has been more resilient against becoming liberal…Arcadia has had huge immigration, went from 99% white to overwhelming Asian). But my high school, while conservative (we had teachers signing petitions against Planned Parenthood, supporting student organized Christian groups, pro life videos, a pro-marriage speaker…) academically stunk. Arcadia has the MA’s and even PhD’s. And like my school district, does not sex education (sex education in California schools is atrocious, the required program really bad…but districts can opt not to do any sex education. So have they and other local districts)

Really unfortunate. Glad they fought it for a while at least

  13. frjim4321 says:

Masked Chicken, so what does Dr. Richard Feynman believe or say about transgender issues? Oh, that’s right, we don’t know, because the dear man passed away years ago. Misappropriating a quote to imply that a revered figure would agree with a particular point of view is not a valid argument. If anything I would respectfully suggest that the author of “Who Cares What Other People Think” would absorb every book, article and study regarding transgender issues prior to making a knee jerk response to this very complex issue.

Again, this is another news item that LSN has distorted in order to serve its own purposes. As always fact that may be taken to place the President in a negative light, other facts that put the issue into a balanced perspective are carefully omitted.

I would suggest that the average ninth grader in California is probably better informed about transgender issues than school board and district administration officials are.

The politicization of this issue comes at a great cost, which is that the best interest of the student in this matter is lost in the shuffle. Undoubtedly the child, the child’s parents, and the child’s therapists are the best ones to determine the gender identity of the child based on what the best science of this issue is at this time.

Finally a locker room or bathroom is hardly a sexualized environment. Most people dress quickly and those who are squeamish wrap a towel around themselves. Frankly no harm is going to be done to anyone by having this individual in the locker room. This is a total non-issue. Again, a fluff story blown up and out of proportion by LSN in yet another impotent attempt to accomplish their #1 goal which is to undermine the administration of the President.

    Gramsci has won, hands down.

  15. maryh says:

    @frjim
Masked Chicken didn’t say or imply what Feynman would say. You did. He simply quoted what Feynman said about the need to check theories against the actual data of natural phenomena. People do actually quote people, not to name drop, but because the people quoted actually say something that pertains to the issue at hand. Or do you think that the necessity to correlate theory with data doesn’t actually apply in this particular case?

As for Masked Chicken’s supposed “knee jerk” response, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out he actually knew more about transgender research than you do. I have rarely found anything the Masked Chicken says to be “knee jerk”, nor do I see any evidence of that in his post here. Unless, of course, disagreeing with your own viewpoint is to be considered “knee jerk”.

other facts that put the issue into a balanced perspective are carefully omitted I was so looking forward to a link to the other facts that put the issue into a balanced perspective. Unfortunately, you didn’t provide any.

frjim4321, I know you hate FOX, and you say you have tired of MSNBC, but, wow, what news do you watch? If you were better informed you would be aware that sexual violence by adolescent males is at an all time high. You are incredibly naive and kind of sexist to believe that this confused female is going to be 100 % safe using the boys’ facilities. And what happens if she gets bullied or worse? Will the school district be held responsible for creating an unsafe environment for her educationally or Obama and his beloved DOJ?

  17. Johnno says:

    That’s nonsense frjim.

How do you know what Dr. Richard Feynman really meant? How do you know how involved he was with this age old issue? Do you know him? Are you psychic? Did you do a seance to raise his ghost and ask it?

How do you know that LSN distorted the story? Where precisely did they do that? Are you saying President Obama does not back or stand for these things? Do you have information to the contrary? Can you provide it? Does it require you to reach behind yourself to get it? Do you know that bearing false witness against your neighbor is a sin? Does that commandment get suspended when feelings are involved?

I would suggest that the average ninth grader is an uninformed witless test subject that your ‘transgender’ activist buddies and quack therapists prey upon for social experiments devoid of objective reality. The gender identity of the child is determined from their objective physicality and sexual organs. And only the rare cases where this is obviously in doubt due to physical and genetic deformities shall that person, that human being, that child of God frjim in case you forgot He gave them a soul and expects them to benefit from the masculine/feminine principles He created, have recourse to the suggestions of their parents, doctors and their own conscience formed form a proper relationship with God.

Finally, I’m sure those poor children and others who’ve been groped, harassed, raped, gang raped, and beaten and bullied in locker rooms and toilets find your easy going dismissal of locker rooms and toilets being ‘non-sexualized’ environments where nothing can happen, so kind and encouraging. It’s nice that they can count on understanding people like you to help bring some perspective and levity to this situation…

“The school district refused, citing a state law permitting the maintenance of separate facilities for the two biological sexes, along with a California Department of Education legal advisory stating that the law ‘balances the gender self-perceptions of particular students against the privacy and perceptions of other students and sets a reasonable limit on “transgender’ rights” .’ ” Whereupon, “after two years of investigation by the DOJ, the school district agreed to a settlement in which they admitted no wrongdoing, but agreed to submit to the demands of the girl’s family, along with several additional DOJ orders.”

No wrongdoing, apparently abiding by the laws, yet it seems bullied into ‘agreeing to submit’! (I have not read the linked settlement, yet, to see if it sheds more light on this.) Wheesht!

  20. The Masked Chicken says:

“Misappropriating a quote to imply that a revered figure would agree with a particular point of view is not a valid argument.”

Are you kidding? I have a fairly good idea what Richard Feynman would think of the research because he was very outspoken about scientific chicanery, including in the psychological sciences (there are many sources that could be cited, in writing, including the CalTech commencement speech, which should be read in its entirety). The father of one of my colleagues worked with Feynman at CalTech and he has many stories. I was in a graduate computer science class taught by a professor who had Feynman at CalTech. You do know that Feynman was declared unfit for military service because he was classified as mentally unfit by a psychiatrist who examined him (the hilarious story is recounted in his biography, “Surely, You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman?”).

Be that as it may, I was not citing Feynman for his views on transgenderism, but because of his views as a Nobel Prize winner in physics speaking on the foundations of the Scientific Method. Transgender studies is an example, to be blunt about it, of Cargo Cult Science. Where are the controls? Where are the independently verified experiments? Where are the experiments where variables isolated and varied separately? Where are the normalizing controls? Simply put, there aren’t any. Yes, people doing the studies sometimes use statistics, but the methodology is not good from a scientific standpoint (do they even do double-blind experiments, which, while not conclusive – as medical researchers are beginning to find out, are, nevertheless, a filter separating the threshold of good science from bad in medicine) and the numbers are not, strictly speaking, very impressive, statistically.

Examples in classical psychology are rampant. The famous 1971 Zimbardo Stanford Prison Experiment was finally reproduced in 2008 and the effects were different. Many researchers have found methodological flaws in Zimbardo’s experimental design and yet, this experiment is mentioned over and over in beginning psychology classes as an example of good science. Similarly, when Milgram’s conformity experiment was re-examined, a different set of flaws were found. Even in medicine, replication of experiments often fail to turn up the same results. At the forefront of modern methodological testing of the results in medicine is John Ioannidis, who has found out just how flawed current medical studies are(which, one presumes are more rigorous than psychological studies, usually). The results are staggering.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2010/11/lies-damned-lies-and-medical-science/308269/

Given all of this, to manipulate a kid’s life based on questionable science is obscene. I could, I suppose, collect most of the papers that support transgenderism and subject them to rigorous examination, but I really don’t need the high blood pressure that would surely result.

Martin Gardener, of Scientific American fame, wrote a book well worth reading: Science: Good, Bad, and Bogus. In it he explains what makes good science, what makes bad science, and what makes science bogus. I happen to study very carefully the example that Gardener gives for bogus science, since I am doing the hard theoretical science in my own research that should have been done on that example in the first place so that Gardener’s objections can be satisfied, at least to some extent.

I have been a reviewer for two peer-reviewed journals, one in the hard sciences and one in the soft sciences. My brother is a journal editor for a hard science journal. I have some idea of how science is supposed to work. Transgender studies is a field of politics masquerading as either poor or bogus science, in my opinion. I simply don’t have the time to spend doing work similar to Ioannis’s to prove it. Some one ought to. That would call Obama out.

I did some study of the area some time ago when I was commenting on the neuroscience of gender over at the blog, What’s Wrong With the World, but I don’t have the time to go much beyond that, myself. Have you ever wondered why there are few hard scientists doing research in this area? That, in itself, is telling. In one of my own fields, I have seen a whole cottage industry called therapeutic humor spring up, even in medical schools, despite the fact that we, the experts in the field, keep telling them that they are way over-generalizing our results. I have little doubt that the same thing is happening in the field of transgenderism. Yes, there are some cases of incomplete sexual differentiation, but these are, by-and-large, pretty obvious (not always, but usually). A completely biological boy, injected with hormones to stop puberty does not result in a girl. It results in a mess, because neurophysiological development of the brain is sex specific and flooding a brain with estrogen that has y chromosomes does not turn them off. Until we can change the whole DNA of a person (which we might be able to do in a hundred years), basically, the outlook of the Catholic Church, that what you see is what you get, is the only sound way to go.

Somewhat further to The Chicken’s second excellent comment, I note, “The district must also […] seal all records of her birth sex”. I lately read of some jurisdiction where they have, or someone is trying to pass a law where they soon shall have, enforced making the alteration of ‘birth’ sex on birth certificates/registration formally incapable of discovery.

Orwell’s Winston Smith had the Soviet-Encyclopedia style job of rewriting the record of history by forging (as often and variously as convenient to the State) the supposed historical textual evidence. frjm- you are too kind to those imposing this worldview. On NPR: ” I reject the gender binary as an oppressive move by the dominant culture.” Isn’t this rejecting yourself as God made you? Do you agree with allowing 45 yo people with male external genitalia to wander nude about the women’s locker room where underage girls (as young as 6) are dressing (as in Evergreen St College). After the children’s parents complained, the college eventually shunted the girls team to a temporary space so the non cis gendered person could continue to wander the women’s locker room. Furthermore, the aforementioned person “prefers” women- ie desires women sexually-so you can’t use the canard that he isn’t looking at them sexually. BTW, I love using cis gendered for normal- sounds scientific- why it is right out of the chemistry texts! And the college forced the swim coach who threw the transgendered individual out of the locker room while the GIRLS were there to apologize and the school stated that “having male genitalia does not make you male”. In Colorado the TG 1st grader has the ‘right” to use the girls bathroom- not the boys or the gender neutral bathroom- but the girls. The state will impose on the girls having a male child in the girls bathroom. Is that OK? The child is clearly phenotypically male. I would have no trouble with the use of gender neutral bathrooms & locker rooms- but to mandate that the rights of the TG supersede the rights of the “cisgendered”is crazy.

At the very least, there will be an awful lot of kids using the alternate bathroom, the one for one person for safety. I predict lawsuits over this sort of thing; it used to be that people were told that you can’t legislate morality and now the gov’t is trying to do that very thing.

James Joseph, you’re certainly too young to be whining that you’re old and amount to nothing. Nothing wrong with being a meat cutter; good, honest work. And this isn’t our true home anyway so no worries on not amounting to anything on earth. Heaven’s your objective.
