In the Diocese of Lincoln, where it is still okay to be a faithful Catholic openly, there is a school where, on the Feast of St. Therese, the girls dress as the Little Flower for the day. Bp. Conley celebrated Mass for the school.

OMGosh! That is adorable! Especially the little baby flower. Too cute.
Love it!! And what a great thing for the little girls to be able to do. Apparently the baby little flower was the only one who could be truly discalced, for perfectly good practical reasons, no doubt.
Relatedly, actual flowers are not usually found in our Adoration Chapel but yesterday two bouquets of roses appeared, flanking the monstrance. No idea where they came from but I enjoyed them greatly.

The awesomeness is off the charts. It’s nice to see Catholic school children actually do something Catholic for once! There’s no way this would ever happen at my son’s school. Can’t look to traditional for fear of offending the “Spirit of Vatican II”. I swear I saw him running in the hallway the other day. He looked a lot like the “Not Me” ghost of Family Circle fame.
Awww – those pictures warm my heart! I chose St. Therese for my confirmation saint! It was interesting to read in the Magnificat today that she drew inspiration from Saint Theophane Venard, in the “Saint Who?” section. If you have a copy, read it. Good stuff!

Oh my goodness, thanks Fr. Z! Beautiful, beautiful, little Flowers, all. Is there anything more wonderful than children! These are why we have to work hard to reclaim our faith and our culture. They are worth fighting for.

I met Bp. Conley when my friend’s son graduated from St. Gregory the Great Seminary this past year. What a solid, intelligent and kind Bishop he is! I loved the photos, Fr. Z! At that age, how I would have loved dressing like St. Therese! And, maybe still, a little bit now!
Very cute! And a really creative way to get the kids to think about Sta Teresa (and perhaps the whole concept of religious vocation).

This is my parish!
I agree that Bishop Conley is wonderful, as is his predecessor, however I must say that I think credit for this should go to our dear Monsignor Nemec! He has been our pastor for 22 years, and he is a dedicated and faithful priest! Our parish is so blessed to have him and our many faithful assistant priests over the years. Plus, we are blessed to have The School Sisters of Christ the King in our convent and school, and good and faithful laity serving in our parish and school setting a great example for our young people.
@Unwilling– there are two daily Masses with confessions for 30 minutes prior. Also, 4 weekend Masses and three confession hours on Saturday.
Thank you for this, Fr Z. You teach good…because as Eugene says above, we can catch this. Right in our hearts!
I was just thinking too, might there be some vocations from events such as this. Just as altar boys can be inspired when they are up at the altar, something like this can make quite an impression on a little girl’s heart.
