Now that “gay” (I hate that word now) rights are secured, thanks to a feckless few unelected justices on the SCOTUS, the next barriers to be broken down are, first, polygamy, and then pedophilia.
I saw at Crux …
Italian Islamic leader wants legal recognition of polygamy
The founder of Italy’s main Islamic organization says that since the country now recognizes civil unions for same-sex couples, there’s no reason that polygamous relationships shouldn’t also be afforded legal protection. [How will the Holy See and Italy’s bishops react to this?]
Only months after Italy approved civil unions for lesbians and gays, a leader of the country’s Islamic community is using the move to argue for the civil recognition of polygamy. He also claimed that Pope Francis’ silence regarding his suggestion means that the pontiff has perhaps understood that it’s a “simple civil right” and a matter of equality. [Will there be a clarification?]
Hamza Piccardo is founder of the Union of Islamic Communities in Italy, an umbrella organization which represents most of Italy’s Muslim communities. Recently, Piccardo shared a picture of the mayor of Milan with a gay couple after celebrating their union on Facebook.
Piccardo accompanied the picture with the following message:
“If it’s only a matter of civil rights, then polygamy is a civil right.”
We’ll probably see that last sentence in a SCOTUS decision in about 5 years or so.
If they don’t get their way, will they start burning cars and rioting in the suburbs of Italian cities?
The moderation queue is ON.
How important the upcoming presidential election is in regard to justices and the SCOTUS.
Why not? Ever since the secularists destroyed the nature of marriage in civil life, all manner of perverse definitions of marriage are seeking to be recognized. Polygamy is next, and why not incest, as long as they are adults, rights? “Love Wins”, right liberals?
But in terms of Islamic perversion of marriage, when will they next demand child marriages? Mohammed is their primary example, their man to emulate. Love Wins, right?
Members of the FLDS in Bountiful, BC, Canada are already working towards the legalization of polygamy. The law prohibiting bigamy is waiting for review by th Supreme Court of Canada.
As for pedophilia, there are already people trying to legalize it in California, and citizens are seeing it as normal since “in the past people got married at the age of 12 and 13 since that’s when girls can start getting pregnant”. Yeah, people don’t really understand what pedophilia is…
For the life of me I wouldn’t venture a guess at who might feel compelled to support such a move in the interest of diversity, inclusiveness and mercy.
Would you care for some tea?
So, when it gets to the point when pedophilia is legal, does that mean they will begin emptying the prisons of all those who have been imprisoned for that crime? And, perhaps, those who were ACCUSED of pedophilia, but are in fact, innocent, will they be released too? Like, for instance, Father Gordon MacRae who has been wrongfully imprisoned in the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord for the past 22 years? And will all those people, guilty and innocent, be compensated for their years of wrongful imprisonment when it is no longer considered illegal? And will that be the end of all these lists of sex offenders?
I hope Muslim leaders keep challenging the Catholic hierarchy by name in public. Perhaps it will provoke orthodox responses in a way secular challenges haven’t. Or maybe not. Who knows.
Of course it’ll happen. And in Turkey, they just lowered the age of consent to 12, yes 12. A 60-something pervert can legally marry and rape a 12 year old girl now in Turkey. And don’t think for one minute that they won’t be demanding for this and more here in the U.S. now that sodomites can be legally “married” here. After all, it would be discriminatory against islam to not allow polygamy and even child marriages and we simply have to be an inclusive nation don’t we. No, I’m not being sarcastic, this is coming soon to the U.S. We’ve abused our democracy to become a secular-progressive cesspool and God in turn is sending down the chastisements.
AT,RA, (I abbreviate because of this wonderful spellingthing) People will just then say, well, the Moslems are right about that at least. And go back to worshiping their fones and coffee and stuff.
Not surprising one bit.
If marriage can be redefined by one group from “one man and one woman” to “one man and one man” and “one woman and one woman”, why can’t it also be redefined again by another group to be “one man and many women”?
People were saying this very thing would happen 10+ years ago.
And I predict that today’s youth are going to shock the older people in the coming years when they redefine marriage (and other things we all take for granted) yet again…
‘If they don’t get their way, will they start burning cars and rioting in the suburbs of Italian cities?’
That’s the answer in a way. It won’t be recognised, but Moslems who engage in this barbarity or the greater savagery of female genital mutilation will be mostly left alone, because they tend to set things on fire or blow them up. There has been a startling number of cases of the state ignoring Moslem barbarity in regard to this, but also paedophilia. The Rotherham cases involving Pakistani descended minicab drivers grooming troubled adolescent girls were ignored. Tommy Robinson and others who highlighted the cases, even one parent who went to rescue his child, got hostile police attention. A background to that case, like with polygamy, is the conduct of Mohammed, the Perfect Man to Moslems. His last wife Aisha was likely of a very young age, and the relevant hadith reports that he did not let a detail like puberty detain him in his conduct with this doll playing child.
You are being too generous, Father.
I think it will be 5 years and the abolition of the “silly notion of age of consent” will be the SCOTUS decision.
I have no doubt SCOTUS will, in a few years, fall over themselves to find the “constitutional right” for polygamous/polyandrous marriages.
As a former Mormon, now Catholic, my feelings are particularly strong about this. Polygamy is abusive to women and children. Period. While the mainstream LDS church does not currently practice polygamy, it is still a doctrine of the LDS church and affects everything. Polygamy is a ghost that haunts all LDS women. The doctrine itself, even unpracticed, does a number on the psyche of women. Many LDS apologists maintain that they stopped the practice of polygamy when it became clear from SCOTUS that it was illegal. (Of course, they ignore the fact that it was always illegal and the practice of polygamy was suppressed just in time for Utah to petition for statehood). If polygamy is suddenly legalized by SCOTUS fiat, it would cause LDS leadership to have uncontrolled bowel movements. There would then be hardcore Mormon traditionalists who would want to bring the practice of polygamy back, but the women would have serious issues with it.
I would hate to see polygamy legalized because widespread abuse of women and children would essentially be legalized, not just in the Muslim community but also in Mormon communities. I would, however, feel some schadenfreude, at least with respect to the LDS church. The legalization of polygamy would cause all kinds of problems for the leadership of the LDS church. I would hate to see how it would affect my sisters, nieces and nephews, but I hope that it would cause my family to actually listen to me.
Andrew D wrires A 60-something pervert can legally marry and rape a 12 year old girl now in Turkey
Until 1917, the age for marriage in the Catholic Church was 12.
Since 1917, it has been 14 for girls and 16 for boys.
National conferences of Bishops can set higher ages for their countries.
For further details see this article by Dr. Peters:
Canada just legalized bestiality, we are not far. What they want is ‘anything goes’, and I’ll have the sad realization of watching while my elders – who have a job to protect the traditions of society jettison everything before they get too old and can’t change the world. Then they will die and leave us this awful mess to clean up.
There’s a lot of pent up anger there – at being forced to walk step by step into oblivion. Half of me wants to fight the other half of me wants to let them reap the whirlwind. I see my family and I weep. There’s nothing there. There’s not going to be anything left while they blissfully walk off the cliff. Together.
I want to stop it but I can’t. Not by myself. :(
If there is solace in numbers, be comforted in knowing that many of us are weeping over the same situation in our own families. Years of Catholic formation in my children and nieces has not withstood the onslaught of today’s paganism. The culture they swim in is saturated with it and the Church that is supposed to take a visible stand against this degradation has instead succumbed to it in too many ways to count. Followers need leaders. sheep need shepherds. It’s a law of nature and all our shepherds have given us is the “follow your conscience” cop-out, rejecting their duty to form these “sacrosanct” consciences we’re all told to follow. I’ve gotten to the point of praying for divine intervention in the lives of my loved ones since the Catholic Church has for the most part given up the fight for their souls.
For a nation to hand over so much power and oversight over its very culture and society to 9 people is astonishing and I hate using the word, but unfair. Once appointed, justices have life tenure unless they resign, retire, or are removed after impeachment. Something here needs to change – change the life tenures: as a president finished his term, so does the justice he appointed.
Thank you for drawing attention to and linking this article! It is well worthwhile to follow that link – for such additional details as:
‘Piccardo also uses religious grounds, what he calls “revelation,” to bolster his case, saying that’s the reason why he’s asking for recognition of polygyny (a man with more than one female partner), which is accepted in the Qur’an, but not polyandry (a woman with more than one male partner).
‘“Each asks on the grounds of his [or hers] expectations, so if a women’s movement wants to ask for the legal recognition of polyandry, do so,” he tells a user who suggested she’d support Piccardo if he agrees to supporting polyandry.’
The “Crux Staff” do not link their sources and I have not attempted to find them myself, but ‘what he calls “revelation,” ‘ with regard to polygyny, ‘which is accepted in the Qur’an’, need not be limited to the Koran, as the Old Testament is full of it, including the striking words of Nathan to David, “Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: I […] gave thee thy master’ s house and thy master’ s wives into thy bosom” (2 Samuel/Kings 12:7-8). There must be good apologetic work on the application of “ab initio autem non fuit sic” (St. Matthew 19) to such Old Testament matter, but I do not know any off the top of my head – so, recommendations are welcome!
