Today marks a year since we heard of the death of Justice Antonin Scalia at age 79.
Catholics traditionally pray in a special way on one month and one year mark after someone goes to God.
Pray for the Scalia family, remembering in a particular way our friend Fr. Paul Scalia.
Pray for these United States.
Amen. And thank you. Funny thing, I accidentally came across his son’s funeral homily just yesterday, read it (not noticing the date), and was again struck by how very, very thoughtful it was.
[Do I hear an “Amen!”?]
Scalia was a rare judge today who understood the he, too, would be judged by one mightier then him.
Requiescat in pacem
In pace
I have no doubt that the funeral homily for Antonin Scalia, preached by Father Scalia, is one of the most eloquent works of contemporary American prose. Every once in a while someone says what needs to be said.

There was one line in his homily I still remember: Let us not allow our admiration for him
to deprive him of our prayers.
The Federalist Society has a wonderful little teaser for a video they are producing on Justice Scalia: https://www.facebook.com/Federalist.Society/videos/10154385529448481/
Notice the small statue of St. Dominic about half-way through.
