In the wake of the big storms: Prayers of THANKSGIVING!

In the wake of hurricane IRMA, many have written to say that they are well.

My mother and her friends are fine.

I advocated prayers before the storm.

Now I recommend prayers of thanksgiving after the storm.

From a priest…

I am a priest in Wauchula Florida. I saw your post about the
Procession to Avert Tempests and we did exactly that along with Holy Mass, Adoration, and Confessions the day before the storm hit. Thanks be to God, there was no real damage to any parishioners or the Church. Thank you for posting that because I am sure that God greatly protected us from Irma’s wrath. God bless you and your apostolate.

Thanks be to God, indeed Father.

Have your people kneel down and say prayers of thanksgiving for God’s blessings.

Let there be sung Non Nobis and Te Deum.

Be the 10th Leper.

I’ve been through such storms before but this one lasted approx. 12 hours, and so here
    is how I describe it:

  2. GypsyMom says:

We have been praying prayers of thanksgiving all week to Our Lord and Lady for the protection of our son in Cuba and our daughter in Tampa. They both came through with no injuries or damage of property! Special thanks to the angels for assistance to our daughter with last minute preparations.

  3. CoramThoma says:

I noticed in a comment posted pre-Irma, that the rector of the cathedral in Miami had said the Extraordinary Form prayers against storms outside his cathedral. I believe it was that day that the hurricane veered away from a head-on collision with Miami and went instead up the Gulf coast of Florida.
An FSSP priest I know prayed the prayers for his cousin in Cape Coral. The Weather channel talked of a ‘miraculous’ circumventing of that area (near Ft. Myers).
Blessed be the Name of the Lord, now and forever!

  4. Knight from 13904 says:

I expect a lot of people praying the Novena for Our Nation added a petition to protect from the hurricanes. I know I did. Way to go Fr. Z and the priest from Wauchula FL and others for utilizing all of the spiritual weapons we have within the Church.
