Getting “Offline Error” when I try to connect.

    No joy.

    To follow through with this.

I could get through to other WIRESX rooms easily enough. I’m on a Yaesu FTM-100DR, so I natively get WIRESX. I could see the connection to ZEDNET get made, but it seemed like it couldn’t complete the handshake. As soon as the connection was made, I got the “Offline Error” message and got disconnected.

I could hit other repeaters on FM as well.

It seems that Brandmeister pulled a fast one this week and started to change security protocols. I did not receive the email. So, I missed about a half hour of the net until WB0YLE shot me the suggestion to change DRM Masters from 3102 (which has made a change to requiring a personal password on 4 Dec) to 3103 (which will force this change on 11 Dec).

Once I made the change to the new Master and rebooted the hotspot and keyed up, I could hear everyone in ZedNet! But that fixed will only last to 11 Dec.

So, after the ZedNet concluded, I went to Brandmeister in the Self Help section, added a hotspot password and then went into my hotspot and added the same password. I am hoping that it will now work properly.

This is impressive. I am still deciding what to do about getting set up for digital. One thing that bothers me is the dependence on the internet. If and when the commies take over i suspect we will have Chinese style control over the internet and limited access to anything not approved by the State. We might be better off with an HF based net. Of course the bad guys can pinpoint transmitter locations but if is more work for them especially if one is using QRP CW.

  5. Hey! I’m all for an HF net, especially since we seem to be emerging from Solar Winter. And I am all for QRP. I’m working (slowly) on CW skills. I don’t have the CW yet to do that, but it could be a great thing.

If there is POTA there could be SOTA… not “Summits” but “Shrines”.
