Is there ice on Mars?
It seems that, yes, there is.
The European Space Agency has released a photo of what they say is water ice in an unnamed crater in Vastitas Borealis near the pole of Mars. (I love Martian names … Vastitas Borealis … rather like my first seminary).
Perhaps one should inaugurate a new cocktail in honor of this Martian Water…. L’Esprit de Mars!
1oz Luxardo, 4 oz cranberry juice, 2oz lime juice, splash of Tannqueray. Place in crushed ice, shake , garnish with slice of blood orange.
Hmmm… the sweetness of the Luxardo offset by the cranberry and lime. I’d say more than a splash of gin. Blood orange. Nice touch. Good against scurvy from travelling to sample that water in the first place.
I’d like to suggest a healthy tot of Navy strength gin.
I think I see Elwin Ransom.
If you zoom in real close to the upper left corner of the giant snowball, I think you can see Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster.
All that ice would make a river of mint juleps.
“Vastitas Borealis … rather like my first seminary” *chuckle*
In the spirit of “Northern Wasteland” lemme’ put on my bartender bowtie, wipe down the bar and have a go.
Desolation of Smaug
2 oz rocket fuel
2 oz Greek fire
1 oz fermented prune juice
Shaken, carefully, not stirred. Drink ad orientem- because you’re about to see the Almighty.
