ROME 26/10-11 – Day 37: For awhile…

ROME 26/10-11 – Day 37: For awhile...

I was up before the Roman sun rose at 06:46.

By the time it set at 17:01 I was winging my my to these USA.

The Ave Maria Bell probably didn’t ring anywhere for the Roman Curia at 17:30.

The hired car came promptly and off I went after last minute run to pitch some trash in a nearby bin.

From the car I saw that the statue of Gioachino Belli has been tidied up.  The last time, there were indications of repairs.

If you fly out of FCO and go upstairs to the second level where there are a few (mostly bad) food options, by all means possible AVOID Costa Coffee.  I ordered a cappuccino and a cornetto and got… neither.  Frankly, it was the most disgusting coffee ever put into my hand.  One sip and I upended it into their garbage.  The cornetto was on par.   This place should be gutted and a pit left where in large letters is written: CAVEAT EMPTOR.

My view for a long while.

ROME 26/10-11 – Day 37: For awhile...

I really don’t want to do this again.  Not like this.  In past I have been breaking up the trip with a layover of a couple nights and flying out of JFK instead of connecting all the way through.  This time I went through and came back through ATL, which made the crossing a couple hours longer.   Then the next leg.  Then the drive home.  It was not fun.

Moreover, my A/C is dead.   This is not a good thing where I live.

That probably kills my ability to get back to Rome for Christmas.   We shall see.

Time to ask St. Joseph for help again.

Meanwhile…
