    Great photos!

    The attacks of Sept. 11 were one of those events that was so shocking and terrible that most everybody remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing when they got the news. I was in my office preparing classes for my first semester as a philosophy professor when a seminarian walked past my office. I stopped him and asked him why he was there (he was supposed to be in Philadelphia visiting the historic landmarks with the rest of the seminarians) and he gave me the news – they’d seen the smoke in the distance as they drove on the highway and had come back because all the bridges across the Hudson were closed. I couldn’t believe what he told me and went to the common room where the other priests and brothers had already gathered and were watching the news. The first thing I saw: a replay of the towers falling.

    God protect us from any more attacks like this, and may He grant peace to the world and conversion of heart to all those who are filled with hate. All those who died during the attacks and in the resulting conflicts, requiescant in pace.

    Are those turned on every night or just on the memorial of the tragedy?

    They’re only turned on for the anniversary each year.

    Those ‘towers of light’ (I know it’s not the correct term) always move me to tears.

    May those who died at the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, and the heroes who fought back on Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA rest in peace.

    WE MUST NOT FORGET!
