Your checked luggage: where does it go?

Biretta tip to Patrick Madrid, who also flies a lot.  Delta (with which I am … never mind…) has a new app for the iPhone that tracks your checked luggage.  I have used it, as a matter of fact, recently.  I had a flight delay that caused me to miss a connection.  The app tracked my bag, as advertised!

To advertise their app Delta has a video of where your bag goes, from the time it disappears behind the rubber flaps until you pick it up.  They made a case with 6 cameras and sent it from Atlanta to La Guardia in NYC.

Why would I want to be reminded that my luggage is having a better trip than me? ;-)

I always imagined something more Rube Goldberg-like. A few more levers activated by falling anvils, large magnets mounted on skateboards, and more gigantic springs. And a super-genius coyote on rocket skates.

With Raymond Scott’s “Powerhouse” as a soundtrack, interspersed with Strauss’s “Blue Danube.”

[I wonder if the TSA part they blacked out was the "gorilla with your bag in a cage" part. Remember that?]

I have a hard enough time watching my luggage get thrown, tossed, squished, dropped, driven over by the luggage buggy, etc that I would rather not get anymore information regarding the whereabouts of my luggage. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

Oh my, and I sent my Puddy and Vladimir in kennels up to Alberta, then to Alaska with us, down again, to Wisconsin back in the Midwest…poor things. Did not bring them to Europe. I would be traumatized. Miho would have died. Now my cats are in Iowa and Missouri, and not moving.

Just like in Toy Story 3!

I remember the American Tourister gorilla commercial, and it was the first thing I thought of when the Delta video faded to black after 54 seconds. Here is a similar 1980 American Tourister gorilla commercial
