I’m pretty sure that is the world’s best sign!! All the more reason to move to Wisconsin!! CT still allows guns however, I’m getting my license this summer I think.

IMO every state should allow CCW and post signs like that. We have seen the downsides of the “Gun Free Zone” signs.
Whether it’s real or not is immaterial. It’s a great sign with a great message!
With the passage of its law in June 2011, Wisconsin became the 49th state to let citizens possess concealed weapons. (The remaining holdout is Illinois, where a concealed carry bill is pending.)
At first I thought it must be a hoax, so I looked at it magnified and really could not tell for sure. It’s a very good job. The person who did this really know what she/he was doing.
My only hint was that the sign is turned slightly to the right, but the print seems pretty much on-square.

I wish it were a real sign. When and if I go to Wisconsin I will remember this with a smile.
Perhaps we should start making these signs and plant them during the dark of night the same way bills are passed in Congress. Fun.

Think Ruger LCP, with a pocket holster; best conceal-carry on this planet, notwithstanding its long trigger-pull.
I’ve shot thousands of .40 cal. rounds through a Glock 22 and 27, and they are wonderful guns, but the .380 Ruger, in my opinion, is the CCW of choice because it is the slimmest, lightest, on the market. A hollow-point .380 round WILL get the job done!
Great sign! It’s so ironic that Chicago has one of the tightest gun control laws and has the highest amount of gun crime and shootings.

I may have to rent one and give it a try. On the other hand there is the Springfield XD-S, .45 cal with hollow point.
I have been thinking about getting a G22 or 27. It seems as if there is a lot more .40 out there right now. Also, it looks like many law enforcement agencies are dropping .40s. There are some good used options right now.
I have a carry permit here in Tennessee. I favor .45 and .380.
By the way, I will be driving up through Wisconsin and Minnesota in two weeks on my way to Red Lake, Ontario to fish for the grand walleye. I will not bring any of my handguns along, but I will bring cigars!
By the way, my G22 Gen 4 is a fine .45. Funny, but I can’t miss with it!!

I think both states have reciprocity with TN. Check!
(And review the code for each state, of course. We obey the local law to the letter!)
FrZ Ruger LC9 isn’t much bigger than an LCP, fits the hand better, and has better ballistics. The XD-S is my carry gun when not in uniform. Fed with Hornaday Critical Duty ammo in .45 it would be an excellent choice.

Glad to hear the Ham Radio licensing is “coming up.” My advice as stated previously, get your Tech while the info is fresh in your head and get “on the air”. Then proceed to the General Class. Just get them!
But if a zombie apocalypse happens, you can’t beat an AR-15 (.223) Rock River Arms pistol! (Check out Viking Tactical Straps; they are the best out there.)
The fact that a stock isn’t on the buffer-tube, and the length of the barrel, keeps it from being a rifle. RRA’s are what the FBI uses–very nice guns. But ARs need to be cleaned frequently!
There’s a gun store where I live with a picture of Obama, and the capture under it reads, “Best gun-seller in history”! [I saw one with a blue ribbon attached that said “Salesman of the Month”.]

What type of rig are you looking to get once you get the HAM license? I’ve been a HAM for a while…and have had a CCP in the people’s republic of New York since ’91. Funny how those things seem to go together:)

Actually, that “sign” may not be true much longer. Due to a recent federal court ruling striking down the Illinois ban on CCW, if a concealed carry law is not passed by June 9, the current law will die and NO law will be in effect — thereby allowing concealed (or even open) carry with no restriction whatsoever. Although many details remain to be worked out (including whether the policy is “may issue” or “shall issue” and how many hoops a permit applicant will have to jump through), some kind of CCW law is coming and coming soon.
You better practice throwing the weapon at the bad guys. Finding ammo is very difficult right now. I’ve had to use the internet to acquire it.
In addition to the Ham license, I also had it on the list to do the CPR course and also some basic emergency medical training.

Yesterday afternoon. (not even the whole day) 12 people were shot in gun control Chicago.
Father, I can second the recommendation for the Ruger LCP in .380 ACP. It’s a great pistol for CC, even if you plan to also carry another kind. I also have a Glock 36 in .45 ACP (six round single stack magazine), which I sometimes carry but even as small as it is, you can only carry it if you have a certain amount of clothes on, pants waist a little oversized, etc. So if you are in shorts and T shirt in the hot summer (might not apply to you Father), it’s not much of an option. The beauty about the LCP is that you can carry it with just about anything you would conceivably wear. A pocket holster to hide the shape, and you can have it in the front pants pocket of your shorts and none’s the wiser. The best CC gun is the one you have with you, after all. The LC9 looks good too, as Exchief mentioned, unfortunately it came out after I bought my LCP.
I believe Governor Perry of Texas used an LCP to kill a coyote that attacked his dog as he was jogging one morning.

BUT…I can’t bring a handgun into Canada so I will probably take the uncomfortable step of leaving it home! I’m sure all would be well as I motor up Highway 53 from Eau Claire toward International Falls, but once I hit the border I’d be in big trouble!

Those of you who carry concealed – I sat through the class here in FL, but there seem to be so many places where concealed carry is forbidden anyway, including any place of business that puts up a sign saying, um, “no blasters!” or words to that effect – how do you work with the restrictions? Leave the weapon in your car? Plan your errands to the gnat’s nose and leave it at home if you’re hitting the post office or picking up kids at school?
To return to the topic – great sign! Although Chicago is definitely not disarmed, and some of the people doing the illegal gun violence would probably be as happy to shoot terrorists as ‘rival gang members.’
The sign creator names Chicago as if it’s its own state! LOL! Conservatives in western Illinois could not agree more!

If you’re thinking 380, think Sig Sauer P238. Sweet shot. Otherwise, I’m looking at Glock 26 Gen4. 9mm rounds will generally be cheaper than others (half the cost of 380 Auto). That’s important for practice rounds.
A new law kicks in here in TN July 1. At that time all carry permit holders can keep their weapons in their cars at work REGARDLESS of corporate policy. That includes universities. As Father Z. would say in another context, brick by brick.

Hornaday TAP FPD is certainly good ammo but the Critical Duty round is made to penetrate through glass and other similar obstacles without changing trajectory. Plus Critical Duty is designed for even expansion and retention of the maximum amount of the projectile rather than fragmenting into smaller, less effective pieces of the projectile.
I suppose that the nice sign doesn’t count as a legal defence for unlawful killing?
The trouble with this sign is it seems to suggest that every citizen of the State of Wisconsin is policeman, prosecuter, jury, judge and executioner.
Definitely go with the XDS .45, I’ve shot the XD and the XDM and they are amazing!
Or you could get a Keltec P11 :/ 8lb. trigger pull…no thanks.
