D. Madison – Sacred Triduum PHOTOS

The Tridentine Mass Society of the Diocese of Madison is working for the New Evangelization.    We are dedicated to helping the diocese and parishes in their revitalization of our sacred liturgical worship.

Here are some pics from the parish’s Sacred Triduum celebrated at St. Mary’s in Pine Bluff in the Extraordinary Form.

Holy Thursday

My friend Fr. Charles Johnson, USN did the honors.  We were blessed also to have Fr. Christopher Young form Davenport as Subdeacon.

    Beautiful Mass.

edit: “Christopher Young form (= from) Davenport as Subdeacon.” I make this mistake on a daily basis.

[I think I’ll leave that way … now. Happy Easter.]

  2. Perhaps the priests who do the Mass and the Triduum services right are making reparation for the places where it is being done all wrong. Maybe God will relent and remove all the obstacles in the places where the Old Guard still has an iron grip.

  3. Prayerful says:

Wooden high altars and reredos are a wonder to behold. The church near where my father was born, St Josephs’ Baltinglass has a finely carved timber altar and reredos, only lightly Conciliarised. Sadly, I highly doubt the Parish Council and priest see it as anything more than pleasant decoration (well looked after), given the careless Novus Ordo liturgies I see there.

Thank you for those beautiful pictures. It helps a little knowing that such churches, and such priests, are out there. Especially when in my parish today we had the Easter Bunny come by right after the communion announcements and before the Blessing, “Now remember, DON’T go writing a letter to the Bishop”. . .

My wife and I attended the Sacred Triduum at our parish, St. Stanislaus in Milwaukee. I don’t know of anything that will better tattoo Christ’s name on one’s soul and “Catholic” on one’s heart than a Triduum in Latin, beautiful music, incense, bells, and sacred liturgy.

  6. JonPatrick says:

Beautiful. We did not have a traditional Latin Triduum at our parish, one in the Ordinary Form but well done with a dedicated schola singing the propers in Latin. Particularly memorable was Good Friday with the Crux Fidelis, the Reproaches sung in English during Veneration of the Cross (admittedly I prefer it that way because the words are so powerful) and Allegri’s Miserere during communion.

Fr. Z, I am unable to Tweet this specific post. With others, no issue.

    Beautiful Father Z. Thank you.

    Looking great.

I had my first 1962 triduum here. I’m glad I did it and next year it will be bigger and better.

Thank you for this post and others like it. So beautiful.

  12. NBW says:

Very beautiful Mass. Thank you for the photos, Father Z.! The altar is so beautiful!

  13. Marissa says:

What lovely photos. Do you know if there are plans to paint the walls of this church? I ask because my own (FSSP) parish has rather bare walls and I’m curious what plans others might have.

  14. Serviam says:

The Lord is well pleased, I am sure.

Thank you for sharing this most holy, true, and immensely beautiful worship with your readers.
