Reason… PICK A NUMBER!!… for Summorum Pontificum!
A friend sometimes sends stuff by email to torment me and I write back “I’ll never be able to UNSEE that!”
I was going to spare you readers this, but there are lessons to be learned here about what is wrong with sooooo many aspects of the Church today. I lost count as I watched with growing disgust and the need to rinse my eyes out… and then wash my hands and… scrub myself with lye.
Lots of impolite words leapt to mind as I watched this… and I think you know what a couple of them were.
So.. here’s a warning. You are about to see a “vestment fashion show”. The video is in Polish, which is – thanks be to God – not a language which I have studied yet.
This sort of … blech… might appeal to certain Jesuits, but I don’t think that any of my friends would sit there and watch that without … a strong negative reaction along the lines of what St. Margaret did with her hammer.
BLECH!
VERY blech! Sad that this happened in Poland.
OTOH, an encouraging note: the fish net thingy at ~0:43 could easily function as a maniple. (Please, Lord, don’t smite me for putting “fishnet” and “maniple” together)
[A better use might be for lowering the designer and models into a pool of piranha fish.]
Relax, Father. I think those are just rain ponchos.
These, Elton John “would!” wear.
Everyone knows runway vestments are not meant for real world use.. unless one is upholstering a 60s museum
Apparently some type of liturgical trade fair. Bizarre designs, though.
Agreed, Padre. Just for a nibble. And if the material snaps…welllll…
How sad, and I say this as a Polish American who, as a boy, was privileged to attend a Polish Catholic Grammar school, and say morning prayers, alternating Latin and Polish, day to day. The Felician Nuns ( who trained us to be altar boys, we dared not mess up!), would be appalled, perhaps less by the vestments, than the concept of a Chasuble fashion show.
The models don’t even look like they are enjoying it. Were these boys kidnapped from a Church youth group, World Youth Day, or a Kairos Retreat?!
I can’t show this to my husband. He is just starting to accept that not all priests are homosexual.
The Sacroexpo 2017…
SWIIIINNGG and a miss by Versacci. The count is 0-1.
It’s really a shame that blue is not an approved liturgical color, because that fishnet one is pretty snazzy. Since shepherds are supposed to have the smell of the sheep, fishers of men should also have the smell of the fish.
At the bottom of the stage is the brand of the manufacturer (HAFTINA), and what is on their website is quite different from that on the fashion runway:

ks. Marek Wojcik is a PRIEST!? What in tarnation?!
Why are some of the models barefoot?
What’s the net for? Fishing for men?
They’re not all terrible, in fact I think the fluorescent green or orange is required by law if celebrating mass on an Interstate Highway, or active airport runway.
The music in the video sounds Hispanic, not Polish. Does it tell us anything about where this is coming from?
The choice of colors says “look at me”.
I think that what we are seeing in the video is a bit more significant than appears on the surface.
On a similar theme, the SSPX are allowed to offer a daily mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. There is only one stipulation: that the priest wear a polyester chasuble.
True story.
You could turn it into a “spot the gay” drinking contest maybe ?
The blaze orange vestments are convenient for those First Day of Deer Season forest masses.
Also, I’m sure the Prayer Shawl vestments will be instrumental in converting the Jews. —oh wait! I’m sorry, they have their own way to salvation apart from Christ. At least that’s been my understanding. How could I be so insensensitive? My apologies.
This stuff needs to be addressed by the Holy See and not allowed to fester any longer.
It’s called “sacroexpo” which is probably Polish shorthand for Adoration of the Most a Blessed Sacrament, so what’s your beef, Father Z? This MUST be from God!
If you put Latin text on a vestment it would be considered elitist and retrograde, since the People don’t understand it. But Hebrew text is somehow okay for liberals.
They need to sign up Jefferts Schori as one of their designers-her costumes as presiding episcopal ABp where something to behold-

YouTube: ecclesiastical fashion show Fellini
Thanks you for the link to the website ChesterFrank…
Yes, the items were “quite” different, but not always in a good way. I stopped looking when the Cyclops of the Year of Mercy popped up apparently embroidered carefully on vestments. (God’s mercy endures forever but I don’t think this logo should!)
I LOVE the day-glo green and orange! With those on, EVEN NEAR BLIND islamic extremists could target the priest at Mass.
You beat me to this one.
But, Father, some of them are sheer! Wouldn’t that be nice in the summer?? (I’m joking, of course).
It is the Kyrie (Señor, ten piedad de nosotros) from the “Misa Criolla” (1964) by Argentine—by the way militant member of the Communist Party—composer Ariel Ramírez.
Did you catch the cute little rainbow squiggles on the back underneath the net? They’re fishing for men alright.
NEON????? REALLY?????
Except for the style being way off (say 2,000 years), some of those vestments might be better suited to a rave party.
The present Society of Jesus has many faults, one notable one now is to lard their perennial publication, the Messenger with blunt pro-Open Borders messages, but at least they avoid the worst horrors seen above. The vestments of Fr Sosa SJ shown in the Press seemed a decent example of simplicity done well (shame about some of the things he says and his strongly suspected backing of the genocidal Venezuelan Communist government).
S. Armaticus, most of the priests who offer Mass in the traditional form at the Vatican basilica borrow vestments and supply their own maniples.
I have a photo from my recent pilgrimage which captures a favorite priest at the altar of the church of all nations, which encompasses the rock at which Jesus prayed in the garden. It isn’t his fault, he vested in whatever was provided, which featured the reviled logo. I guess somebody thought it was a good idea.
Why in the world would any priest want to wear one of these things when there are so many absolutely beautiful vestments to choose from?
I’m filing this away as further evidence for my hypothesis that ugly vestments were the “certain fashions” offensive to Our Lord spoken of by Our Lady of Fatima.
Many fashion shows present items that no one would or could ever wear. I think this is the case with many of these vestments. With that being said, a couple of them that were using actual liturgical colors were nice.
I guess one bright side is that this “fashion show” looked like it took place in shopping mall with a crowd of about 24 old ladies, tops.
AndyMo says: about 24 old ladies
Let’s not forget that there are old women of both sexes.
I resemble that remark.

Aren’t some traditional vestments, albs I believe, just a little too effeminately lacy and frilly? Why is or is this not a problem. Yes, video shows some abominations; nauseating yellow green and orange ones would be great safety clothing for crossing guards.
What season is Day-Glo Orange again? I keep forgetting.
