My View For Awhile: Challenge Coin Chapter Edition

I’m off to deliver a challenge coin to the guys who pushed me over the edge finally to have mine made.

I’m tardy in the exchange but it’ll happen in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile my bag my been loaded on my flight.  So far so good.

UPDATE

The circumlocution “at this time” in place of “now” gets a bit tedious.

UPDATE

Flight was perfection this time.  Bag was on belt by the time I got there.  Walked out and into a taxi.  So far so good.

The driver is playing Big Band music and the Expressway is moving – for now.

UPDATE

Stuck in traffic right where all the alien invasions and other dire things seem to strike.

I predict an afternoon siesta for you based on your recent hectic schedule.

  3. Kerry says:

Recent circumlocution, turbulence ycleped “unexpected rough air”.

  4. drforjc says:

Kerry, that’s more properly referred to as the (in)famous Delta “light chop.”

Would much rather prefer the PanAm logo still being on that building.

Among the dire things that strike is the always unwelcome Sharknado. In fact, in the lower left of your photo it looks like a mutant orange shark fin is trolling by. Hopefully, Fr. Z remembered to pack his Trident.

  7. Nan says:

In lieu of 3-pronged spear, imagines Father waving pack of gum at shark…

  8. Semper Gumby says:

Nan: Good point. Waving a pack of Trident gum would only encourage those sharks. What would definitely discourage them is a Trident ballistic missile. Maybe Fr. Z has an app for that on his phone. (Fr. Z presses “Launch” on his phone and exclaims, “Veni, Vidi, Vici!”)

p.s. “The driver is playing Big Band music.” My kind of cabbie.

Yikes, Fr. Z! The cab driver’s profile (shirt pattern, angled aviator sunglasses, short hair) reminded me of Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro) from ‘Taxi Driver’ before he went ‘Mohican Vigilante’!

I am hoping someday New York moves into the 20th Century and builds a modern rapid transit system to move people quickly and efficiently from the airports to Midtown, as most other world class cities have.

I love traveling. I love it when airlines bump me—and pay me! I love getting home!

More likely one for a Tridentine Missal… ;)

Ah, Father! We were within a few blocks of each other Wednesday.

Good friends had gotten a line on some Broadway matinee tickets some time back, so it was a day for my wife and myself to play hooky and drive down with them and their daughter and her friends and met my mother in town – some nice Dim Sum for lunch, saw a great show (Hamilton – lived up to the hype), wonderful seats, ambled around Times Square a bit to let rush hour traffic pass (somewhat) before starting the long drive back.

  15. Semper Gumby says:

    jaykay: “…a Tridentine Missal.” Excellent.

When people ask me what my politics are, I reply I’m a fan of the Tridentine Rite…
