Dinosaur Media attack on Catholics who uphold Faith and Morals

UPDATE 20 Nov:

Dreher’s take.  HERE

From NBC comes a piece of sheer anti-Catholic homosexualist propaganda.

A few points as a prelude.

The homosexualists are working together with their allies in the dinosaur media to shift all the focus away from the problem of #sodoclericalism in the Church.  They are desperate to get the focus off of themselves and onto someone else.  Hence, they are determined to victimize Catholics who are simply trying to hold the teachings of the Church which their lobby want to bring down.   The libs and homosexualists (lots of cross-over there) depend mainly on the ever deeper mass ignorance of history, Church teaching, basic moral language and its issues.  This ignorance was engineered over decades of execrable public education and limp, empty catechesis. They haven’t been taught much more than to think of their own views as supreme, but they haven’t been taught to learn or to reason.  Now that people are suitably numbed by screens, ignorance and a lack of ability to reason, its time to turn up the heat.

And so, read a bit of the following and contemplate the months to come.  From NBC:

How the Catholic ‘alt-right’ aims to purge LGBTQ members from the church
Websites like Church Militant, LifeSite News and the Lepanto Institute are ratcheting up the rhetoric with personal attacks on supporters of gay Catholics.

By Corky Siemaszko [Corky Siemaszko is a senior writer at NBC News Digital.  Corky also writes for Truthout which “works to spark action by revealing systemic injustice and providing a platform for transformative ideas, through in-depth investigative reporting and critical analysis. With a powerful, independent voice, we will spur the revolution in consciousness and inspire the direct action that is necessary to save the planet and humanity.”]

The call for action against the “Forces of Organized Perversion” landed in the inboxes of conservative Roman Catholics across the country just before Election Day.

“Have you had enough?” activist Randy Engel wrote in a column that first appeared on the conservative website RenewAmerica.com. “Or will you wait until the Homosexual Collective’s hobnail boot is pressed on the neck of your prone body or that of your child or grandchild before reacting?”  [Randy Engel wrote a book called The Rite of Sodomy: Homosexuality and the Roman Catholic Church.  US HERE – UK HERE.]

“Cast your vote for God, family, and nation,” she wrote.

[Watch the word choice…] Many Catholics say they are worried that activists like Engel are the vanguard of a new offensive by ultra-conservative Catholic groups that see the growing acceptance of LGBTQ Catholics by Pope Francis and other reformers as a mortal threat to their church.

Websites like Church Militant, LifeSite News and the Lepanto Institute are ratcheting up the rhetoric while replacing polite and prayerful discourse with personal attacks on supporters of gay Catholics, they say.

Meanwhile, anti-gay activists have increasingly been disrupting gatherings of LGBTQ Catholics and their supporters, a phenomenon first reported by the National Catholic Reporter. [aka… you know what.] Just this month, a group of Dominican nuns in suburban Milwaukee hired security guards to keep more than two dozen anti-gay protesters off their property where they were hosting a retreat for gay clergy.

Fordham University [Jesuit-run] theologian Jason Steidl has coined a name for them.  [Steidl is a homosexualist activist, according to his page at Fordham HERE. “As a theologian and member of the ministry team for Out at St. Paul in Manhattan, he is an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ community in the Catholic Church.” Hence, he is intimately connected with James Martin.  New Ways Ministry has a page for him.  HERE]

“I call them the ‘Catholic alt-right,’” Steidl told NBC News. “We haven’t seen anything like this before. I think they are part of a bigger cultural movement. These people have hitched their wagons to Trump’s presidency, to his tactics.”  [This is the same bullshit that I was accused of in the BuzzFeed hit piece that Martin engineered.]

They have also tried to weaponize the Pennsylvania grand jury report released in August that named more than 300 “predator priests” to scapegoat homosexuals, never mind that many of the 1,000 victimized children were girls[Many? How many compared to the boys and young men?]

[And, right on cue…] “They inject fear, hatred and homophobia into religious discourse,” said the Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit priest and author of “Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion and Sensitivity.”

“They use the same tactics as the political alt-right: lies, personal vilification and demonization of minority groups,” he said.

Michael Voris, who heads Church Militant, rejected the label “Catholic alt-right,” calling it “non-applicable and stupid.” He said all they are doing is vocally defending their faith and see President Donald Trump as an ally. He once compared Trump to Constantine, the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity.

Voris agreed that conservative Catholics are more focused now on the LGBTQ community, but said it’s because “the news [of the Pennsylvania grand jury report] has certainly multiplied under Pope Francis.”

“I don’t whip up crowds to stone them,” he said. “We’re not a bunch of Muslims in Saudi Arabia chopping peoples’ heads off.”

But the gay lifestyle is a sin, Voris said, and he’s speaking from personal experience.

“I lived a gay lifestyle for a number of years,” said Voris, who said he is now celibate.

Mike Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute also bristled at the Catholic alt-right label.

“The Lepanto Institute does not stand for anything beyond the absolute and immutable teachings of the Catholic Church,” Hichborn wrote in an email. “That does not make us ‘alt-right’ but fully  [… the piece cuts off… really.  Then it just starts up again.]

[…  There follows some whimpering about how badly treated Martin, etc. are…. ]

Who are the Catholic alt-right?

[…]

Guess who?

Catholics who really know and believe their Catholic Faith just want to be Catholic without having heterodox and immoral rubbish shoved down their throats.  It’s not that complicated.  They aren’t extremists.  They aren’t crazy.  They are just tired being BULLIED.  It is getting to the point that they are starting to fight back.  The left and homosexualists don’t like that one little bit.

This coordinated attack on conservative Catholics is laying the ground work for the expulsion of any priest who doesn’t think as the Left does. This could also lead to the suppression of the Latin Mass because it will be stated as the cause for homophobia in the Church. Satan hates Latin.

  2. Johann says:

Leftists are a bunch of hypocrites who actually have no problem with violence themselves (witness the attack on Tucker Carlson’s home where his wife had to hide in a locked closet?). They love to destroy property, engage in acts of assault and throw poo all over the place if they don’t get their way (sorry, the last one is what the left here in my native South Africa does during their “protests”, so I don’t know if they do it in America as well). But they have no problem crying butthurt when their ideas are challenged and alleging “violence” (which is rubbish as I have not heard of a single incident where any of the Catholic activist groups cited have called for violence. Unless hurting feelings counts as “violence”).

  3. HvonBlumenthal says:

Unwanted sexual advances constitute sexual harassment. This is universally recognised as a principle and applied especially at places of work and education.

When a man joins a seminary he says no in advance to any kind of sex. Therefore any sexual advance to any seminarian is by definition unwanted and is by definition sexual harassment, irrespective of whether the Dvance is made by a cardinal, a priest, a fellow seminarian or, indeed, a woman.

  4. KateD says:

LGBTQ Catholic? As if there were such a thing.

You can put antelope horns on a taxidermied jackrabbit, and call it a jackalope, but it in reality no such critter exists.

These folks have taken the leap of inanity and declared that there is such a thing.

    What’s next jackalope conservation programs?

You can close your eyes and wish for it to be true with all your might, but when you open them again reality will come flooding back in. It’s still just a taxidermied rabbit with antelope antlers put on it.

  5. SPWang says:

I’m surprised the TLM wasn’t mentioned. It means they (the old guard) don’t understand fully the battle in front of them. This sort of stuff is great. Just whether it as we have.

  6. SPWang says:

    “*weather it” DYAC

  7. Clinton R. says:

If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. John 15:18

The world indeed will hate those who adhere to the teachings of Christ and His Holy Catholic Church. The world embraces sin and is under the spell of the prince of this world. However, Our Lord encourages us with His Words: ” …In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

  8. Nicholas says:

“a group of Dominican nuns in suburban Milwaukee hired security guards to keep more than two dozen anti-gay protesters off their property where they were hosting a retreat for gay clergy.”

Everything possible is wrong with that quote. Remember when the Dominicans led the Inquisition? The laity didn’t need to go a protest this garbage. Now we call them out on us and they throw us off their property.

  9. Prayerful says:

The Dominicans have relatively strong vocations and many young priests who offer Mass according to their Rite or use, yet alongside are harmful and negative elements. Sadly these nuns or sisters belong to that harmful or negative element, unless they turn from their Modernist junk post-Nouvelle Théologie that likely fills their heads.

  10. KateD says:

And, at the end of the day, it’s just Satan being a provocateur…..again.
When we think about this and become frustrated we stop focusing on doing the work before us, our Father’s work. Don’t be distracted. Maintain an even course.

Let them bully. Being persecuted brings us greater opportunities to exercise Christian virtue and win more souls for Heaven.

  11. JustaSinner says:

Nice ideas from the Left. Seems those on the right, sorry, alt-right, need to step up their game and REALLY hit the Retched Rainbowers…and they admitted their weaknesses!

  12. Il Ratzingeriano says:

The many liberals who label Catholicism as a form of “alt-right” are engaging in projection. They, not Catholics, see everything through a political lens. They do so because politics is the ultimate reality for those who do not believe in God.

  13. richiedel says:

These people use the word choice which they do in order to co-opt the Zeitgeist of popular culture in order to preemptively assert the understanding that if one is not 100% in support of homosexual persons doing whatever they feel like, then that automatically makes one a homophobe and therefore worthy of getting silenced and shut down by virtue of this ad hominem attack. The same people struggle mightily, however, at actually proving by using the Church’s teachings how it is that being devoted to such teaching makes one a homophobe and the best they then do is pointing out as does Fr. James Martin that such language as “intrinsically disordered” doesn’t make one feel welcome (though such will also struggle at coming to terms with what the Church actually means by the word “disordered”, and few of them display the intellectual honesty to consider this). We do well in this culture war not to bend over in the face of the co-opted Zeitgeist as many if our bishops have done and rather calmly and charitably lay bare the Church’s actual teachings and distinctions in this area, bringing to fore that such teachings show the desire that all come to salvation.

“They are just tired being BULLIED. It is getting to the point that they are starting to fight back. ”
    —-Fr Z
I had a vehicle sticker made up that had the male and female symbols entwined together and next to them: “…and that’s a Natural Fact!” (with all do respect for Grand Funk RR).
It was on my truck for two weeks. Then someone ripped it off. Bullies them.

  15. Caesar says:

Did anyone see the Vanity Fair article which effectively pins the current scandal on Benedict XVI and the “conservatives”, and lambasts him as a drag on Francis’ enlightened reforms by his continued existence?

  16. Late for heaven says:

We must be doing something right. My prayers and donations go out to these media sites. Thank you Fr Z!

  17. cwhitty says:

I must say though, Father Z, ChurchMilitant, Voris, and even this blog spew the antigay rhetoric multiple times a day–is all s**t-slinging just being done to point attention at other homos instead of themselves?

[These are good comments to have once in a while. They remind us of the quality of argument used by the left. To use a term from pop culture, they are like NPCs… “non player characters” which are in video games, pre-programmed with phrases. In the case of this comment, I right away had the sense that the person who wrote it is affiliated with some church entity. I did a little digging and found him. In his previous work history he worked for the Diocese of St. Petersburg in Florida and once went to St. John Vianney College Seminary in Florida. Anyway, he is a good example of a lib NPC.]

  18. WVC says:

@cwhitty – looks like someone slipped through the firewall. It’s a shame you don’t grasp the basic fundamentals of grammar or proof-reading, otherwise your comment might have actually been legible. Not, I suspect, that it would have had anything to actually say other than mindless name-calling and rootless accusations.

One of the left’s greatest assets: useful idiots.

  19. Kathleen10 says:

…yawn….the usual drivel of “You’re a closet homosexual if you criticize us in any way”. Boring! Come up with something new.
There’s no debate you can have with these people. Debates have been tried. The goal is to get you to shut up and don’t bring your faith into the public square, ever, under any circumstances. You are to suppress your beliefs and censor yourself so you don’t infringe on their license. The millennia of sacred history, the foundation of Christendom? So yesterday. They have all the answers and are on the only right side of the moral fence, and you and I, are nothing but obstructions.
Censorship, threats, and violence. That’s what is left.

  20. ChesterFrank says:

Yes there is a well funded political campaign against traditional Catholicism and its followers. I could have said more, but I wont.

  21. maternalView says:

It’s like they don’t even know who wins in the end. Sad.

  22. philosophicallyfrank says:

We are constantly allowing them to determine the “terms” to be used in this war and it is long overdue that we define the terms.
First, let’s look at the term “Homophobe”. For all practical purposes, there is no such person. Check the dictionary, medical or regular. A phobia is an abject, irrational “fear” of something (heights, small rooms, spiders, etc., etc. They love to take words and phrases and distort their meanings for their purposes and we let them do it. WHY?????
Secondly, let’s consider “Transgenders”. Again there is no such creature. One can have all of the operations that they want, removing this, adding that or transforming whatever; but, it is biologically impossible to change a male into a female or a female into a male. Why?; because the male and female skeletons are different.
Neither of these two examples require a “rocket scientist” to understand the issues and yet we allow them to get away with these tactics. Have we been so dumbed down over the last half centaury that we are incompetent to realize what they are doing? The problem is not “them”; the problem is “us”.

  23. OldProfK says:

And, at the end of the day, it’s just Satan being a provocateur…..again.

I think KateD makes an excellent point here, the key being the word “provocateur.” The Enemy has all kinds of useful tactics at his disposal, including making sure the outrage meters of his useful fools (may they never find out the hard way how quickly a useful fool becomes a useless eater) and the outrage meters of those who serve the Lord are pegged 24/7/365.

Once the needles are bent against the stops, the next step is to slip a new member into the circle…one who Has Had Enough Of This, who says It’s Time To Take The Fight To The Enemy In A Very Real Way, and who has some Very Creative Ideas About How To Make Them Pay.

That one, right there…is usually an FBI agent. Possibly coming soon (perhaps as soon as the next Lao Donk party Presidency) to a congregation near you.

  24. Ben Kenobi says:

“Let them bully. Being persecuted brings us greater opportunities to exercise Christian virtue and win more souls for Heaven.”

Been over a decade now, since 2004 for me. All I can say is about time we started fighting back.

  25. Mario Bird says:

I can’t see the name “Corky” without thinking of Waiting for Guffman. Perhaps, as a sign of walking together, a “Remains of the Day” lunchbox would set things right between Corky and his targets.

  26. JesusFreak84 says:

So all of those sites are ticking off the right people. Got it.

  27. TonyO says:

All I can say is, thank you, Corky, for pointing out Lepanto Institute for me. I didn’t know about them, but now I know they are the enemies of Satan and his cohort of limp-wristed useful idiots. I appreciate the hat tip.

Otherwise, everything Corky and Fishwrap said is absolute drivel. Obnoxious, irritating, and insulting drivel, mind you, and at some point we will need to respond to it. Not in kind, no, we will not respond to uncharity with uncharity of our own, we will respond to it with something a lot more effective. Excommunication is a good start.

  28. KateD says:

    Ben Kanobi,

Use the force…of reason….and patience, and do fight back. Father Z fights back every day with this blog. A lot of people do according to their strengths and abilities.
