The Great Adventure

No I don’t mean DEATH.  I am going to attempt an upgrade of the software that powers this blog pretty soon.  That is to say I will upgrade WordPress 1.5.2 to 2.0.3.

Make sure you back up first! Good luck and see you on the other side.

  2. I have backed up everything and verified the backups.

  3. With a certain measure of caution, I believe I have “passed over”. I found a lacuna in WordPress’s own directions, however. So, here we go! I need now to figure out if everything works.

Done already and your hair didn’t turn white?

  5. Argent: I have not yet looked in the mirror.

I had a moment of sheer terror at the point when I was to run the upgrade script and got a page full of error lines. That is when I discovered the lacuna in the walkthrough. I did some quick thinking and a prayer to my guardian angel, did something \”off the page\” and it worked.

I have not yet looked in the mirror….BRRRRR

  6. Argent says:

    Father,

Where are you today? Hope you’re not lost in the lacuna.

    Congratulations on the software magic!
Unrelated: Msgr Klaus Gamber’s book–“The Reform of the Roman Liturgy” has become available in paperback from Roman Catholic Books at a reasonable price.
Just returned from my first vsit to St. Mary’s Oratory for Sunday High Mass.—What a marvel!
A must visit for anyone with a traditional Catholic cell in his body!
    Jack

  8. Argent: Thanks for checking in. I was done yesterday at when I posted my cautionary note (above). So far, I have not found anything to be broken. The admin area is a little different. The whole thing seems faster now. Also, there are some useful plugins included in this build.

  9. Jack: Gamber’s book is important. It should be widely circulated.
