reminder

A reminder of some PODCAzT content:

072 08-11-11 The death of St. Martin; starlings, cuckolds, bell ringing and a skull
071 08-11-06 "Faith inscribed across your heart": Benedict on Cyril of Jerusalem & Cyril on faith, your treasure
070 08-11-01 Venerable Bede on All Saints; a collage; don Camillo (Part IV)
069 08-10-30 Augustine on Ps 103; Benedictines can sing!

In the meantime, it was a foggy gray misty cold day here at the Sabine Farm, beginning with some snow on the chapel.  The first I’ve seen.

Time for a fire in the newly swept fireplace and some reading.

And what are you reading? (I am currently reading ‘Joan of Arc’ by Mark Twain, and ‘A Christmas Celebration’ from the Wanderer – I know, I am rushing the season!).

  2. Jim: Mark Twain’s  Joan of Arc is fantastic. He described it among his own works as his favorite, and for good reason.

Why, Father! Are you planning to have WDTPRS rival the old WPIX Channel 11 Yule Log this Christmas?

  4. Charivari: LOL. No, not really.

Father, I have a slightly nosy question: Could you tell us a bit about your chapel? Is it a converted outbuilding or was it purpose-built? Does it hold many people/have pews? Could you maybe post some photos of it or give us a bit of a virtual tour and tell us about it? I imagine you’ve put a lot of effort into it and I’d really be interested to know more about it.

    Father,

Forgive me if my “professorial side” emerges here. I’m currently reading Hawthorne’s “The House of the Seven Gables” after completing his short story “The Artist of the Beautiful.” When you have the time, you might wish to read these works as they are wonderful fireside companions (as is “The Scarlet Letter,” which features any number of Catholic references).

    Pax,

    Mike
