PODCAzT 112: Winter poems – corrected

Well… I went and did it again.  I made a PODCAzT.

And then I screwed up and posted the wrong audio file.   I have now corrected that.  Sorry.

I’m not going to say what’s in it other than that there are some poems.  You’ll know a most of the authors, think, but perhaps not the poems I chose.

They have to do with winter, … I’ll say that much.  Most do, anyway.

There is a very famous line in one of them, pertinent to today.

I just felt like reading some poetry. So I did.

We love your PODCAzTs, Fr.Z. You make it sound like it’s a problem LOL!

More PRAYERCAzTs of the BR, please!

  2. susanna says:

please, fr, may we have some more?

  3. susanna: Sure, if there is enough interest!

These were just the antidote for someone stuck on the West Coast — so far from the beloved winterland of home in Colorado. Oh, how I miss winter snows!

    Seconding susanna: more please!

  5. q7swallows says:

Thank you for obeying the prompting of your heart, Father.

  6. green fiddler says:

This was such a gift, thank-you. Very nice selections, the poems and the musical accompaniment as well!

  8. wanda says:

Thank you, Fr. Z. Rare treats you give us. I love how you put just the right music with each poem. A favorite was the Robert Service poem and the jig that fit it perfectly!

  9. wanda: Thanks! I appreciate that! I try to match them as I may.

Another great podcast there, Father Z! You have such a way of reciting poetry!
I also like the ‘music matches’.
The one by Odgen Nash was funny-he had a way with words, too!
I have a book at home called ‘Saints of the Americas’, by Fr. Marion Habig, OFM. There is a section on Our Lady, and there are two poems relating to her. One is by Fr. Abram Ryan, a Catholic chaplain on the Confederate side in the Civil War. He wrote a poem about the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and snow. The other, by an anonymous writer, is about Mary Immaculate as Patroness of the United States, using the American flag as as images of her ‘mother-heart…grace…mantle’s art’.
