Shalom. It is beautiful!
I have found about 4 different collects in various missals, but the one is the closest, but more elaborate:
Omnipotens et misericors Deus qui dedisti nobis beatissimae Genetricis tuae imaginem de Pepetuo Succursu speciali titulo venerari: concede propitius; ita nos inter omnes vitae huius varietates continuo eiusdem immaculatae semperque Virginis Mariae protectione muniri, ut aeternae tuae redemptionis praemia conseui mereamur.
“Almighty and merciful God who hast given us to venerate a picture of Thy Most Blessed Mother under the title of Perpetual Succour, grant graciously that amid all the variabilities of this our way of life, we may be so constantly protected by the same Immaculate and ever-Virgin Mary as to be worthy of Thine eternal redemption.”
and the shorter one quoted above:
“Lord Jesus Christ who hast given us to venerate the image of Thy Mother Mary as our Perpetual Succour: grant we pray thee that we may deserve to know forever the fruits of Thy Redemption.”
I invite readers to consider coming to the 78th Annual Pilgrimage in Honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Mount St. Macrina Monastery in Uniontown, PA on September 1-2:

With the SCOTUS ruling on health-care deform due tomorrow morning, there is no better time than now to appeal for the intercession of the Blessed Mother!
Engel v. Vitale (which essentially ended school prayer) and Roe v. Wade have been the law of the land for 50 and 39 years, respectively. If Obamacare remains in force, don’t count on any RINO white knight, or group thereof, to save us. Let us appeal to God today for a favorable Court ruling tomorrow!
In most traditional Latin-English hand missals that I’ve seen, the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (or Succor) is found only in a special section in the back on “Feasts for the United States”.
In Canada today was also the optional memorial of the Blessed Bishops Nykyta Budka, founder of the Ukrainian Church in Canada, and Vasyl Velychkovsky. Blessed Nykyta died in a Soviet prison in Siberia, and Blessed Vasyl died in Canada a year after being released from decades of imprisonment.
To the Orthodox, the Icon is known as ?????? ?????????, or the “Formidable/Awesome Protection.” Also appropriate, I think.
Fr. Augustine
…hmm. I thought it would show the Greek. That’s “fovéra prostasía,” transliterated.
written by St. Luke himself, is the tradition.
Individual mandate is reportedly toast.
Legisperitus: Nope. The law stands except for Medicaid tweaking.
There’s no limit to what they can do, and recourse to the Court ended up being a fool’s quest; even Roberts sided with the loony left.
CNN got it wrong, then.
Legisperitus: that’s kind of an oxymoron. :)
