EGYPT: Graffiti marked Christian places to be burned

From the Practitioners of the Religion of Peace…

The story is from the Christian Science Monitor:

In Egyptian village, Christian shops marked ahead of church attack (+video)
The Saint Virgin Mary Church in Al Nazla is one of 47 churches and monasteries that have been burned, robbed, or attacked in a new wave of violence against Christians in Egypt.

Before the violence that shook this small village last week, there were warning signs.

On June 30, when millions of Egyptians took to the streets to protest against now ousted President Mohamed Morsi, residents of Al Nazla marked Christian homes and shops with red graffiti, vowing to protect Morsi’s electoral legitimacy with “blood.”

Relations between Christians and Muslims in the village, which had worsened since Morsi’s election in 2012, grew even more tense as Islamists spread rumors that it was Christians who were behind the protests against Morsi and his ouster by the military on July 3.

Finally, on the morning of Aug. 14, the tension erupted. In Cairo, the police attacked two protest camps full of Morsi supporters, using live ammunition and killing hundreds. When the news reached Al Nazla, a local mosque broadcast through its loudspeakers that Christians were attacking the protesters, say residents. Hundreds of villagers marched on the Saint Virgin Mary Church. They broke down the gate and flooded the compound, shouting “Allahu akbar” and “Islam is the solution,” according to Christian neighbors.

“First they stole the valuable things, and then they torched the place,” says Sami Awad, a church member who lives across the narrow dirt alley from the church. “Whatever they couldn’t carry, they burned.”

Mosque broadcast

On the morning of the attack in Al Nazla, says Awad, a local mosque broadcast a message around 9 am. “Your brothers in Rabaa El Adawiya are being killed by Jews and Christians,” the loudspeakers boomed, according to Awad and other Christian residents. The crowds attacked the police station before attacking the church, say residents, possibly part of the reason the police did nothing to stop the attack that lasted from around 9:30 am until 7 pm. The attackers even brought trucks to carry away their loot. The police guards that had been posted outside the church walked away when the angry crowds approached, say neighbors. One fire truck that tried to approach the church was repelled by the crowd, and the police never came.

Some Muslim neighbors tried to help put out the fire raging in the church, including Magdy Shaaban. They also successfully protected against attempts to break into or set fire to Christian homes and shops, but near the church, “there were so many attackers, we couldn’t stand against them,” he says.

Please refresh my memory: Who are Sts. Nunilo and Alodia? Thank you.

We certainly don’t want to paint with a broad brush because this doesn’t speak to the whole of Islam, but don’t stories like this cast a large shadow on ecumenism? Is it worth the effort?

  3. Supertradmum says:

Robbie, read the Koran. Read the hadith. A good Muslim who follows his creed is violent by the call of Mohammed and Mohammed’s life. If a Muslim does not want a global ummah or a caliphate, he is not a practising Muslim.

I remember on television the day after 9-11, a woman who was a spokesperson from some Islamic think-tank in Washington D. C. She was being interviewed and she blatantly admitted that the reason for the attack was not revenge but for the beginning of the establishment of the caliphate, the global Islamic government. She was never on again, as I think she was too honest and the Muslims do not like people to really know what they are about. And, according to the Koran, which I taught in an Islam course, a long time ago, it is not a sin to lie to an infidel-a Christian or a Jew.

I am only sad that Christian men do not take this seriously and we shall see in many Western countries, priest, bishops, women and children murdered because of the cowardice of our own people.

I would also recommend listening to Scott Hahn’s talk about Islam available on Lighthouse Media. Very enlightening!

This strikes me as a demonic inversion of the Passover story.

Supertradmum: “She was never on again…”

Perhaps because no muslims were involved. Oops, rabbit-hole. Sorry!

  7. Priam1184 says:

After having read the Qur’an, read a bit on Islamic history and practice and ‘theology’ (if such a term can really be used about Islam), and visited the Middle East once I have to conclude that Islam is what Hilaire Belloc said it was: a heresy that is a denial of the Incarnation and therefore the Trinity. If one denies the Trinity then one denies Love; if one denies the Trinity then God becomes Allah for them, a god who acts arbitrarily and seemingly for his own amusement most of the time. Pray for their conversion back to the Faith of the fathers of the fathers of their fathers.

    Aeterne rerum omnium effector Deus:
memento abs te animas infidelium procreateas,
easque ad imaginem et similutinem tuam conditas.
Memento Jesum, Filium tuum, pro illorum salute
atrocissimam subisse necem. Noli quaeso Domine
ultra permittere ut Filius tuus ab infidelibus contemnatur,
sed precibus sanctorum virorum et Ecclesiae, Sanctissimi
Filii tui sponsae, placatus, recordare misericordiae tuae
et oblitus idolitriae et infidelitatis eorum; et effice ut ipsi
quoque agnoscant aliquando quem misisti: Dominum
Jesum Christum, qui est salus, vita, et resurrectio nostra,
per quem salvati et liberati sumus, cui sit gloria per infinita
    saecula saeculorum. Amen.

O God, everlasting Creator of all things, remember that
the souls of unbelievers were made by Thee and formed
in Thine own image and likeness. Remember that Jesus
Thy Son endured a most bitter death for their salvation.
Permit not I beseech Thee, O Lord, that Thy Son should
be despised any longer by unbelievers, but do Thou
graciously accept the prayers of holy men and of the
Church, the Spouse of Thy most holy Son, and be
mindful of Thy mercy. Forget their idolatry and
unbelief and grant that they too may some day know
Him Thou has sent, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our Life
and Resurrection, by whom we have been saved and
delivered, to whom be glory for endless ages. Amen.

After one recalls that in 1948, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem enlisted former Nazis to help fight against the new state of Israel (and his nephew, Yasser Arafat, continued this “fight” afterwards) it shouldn’t be too surprising that these events are taking place (sad as it is). This will only continue…

The Grand Mufti was a pro-Nazi sympathizer during WWII and even had meeting with Adolf Hitler. Here he is inspecting elements of the Waffen-SS HANDSCHAR Division:

SuperTradMum: So glad to know I am not the only Catholic woman to have read the koran and hadith and see through the ecu-fluff. Whether we are debating those who would trash the Constitution or trash our Church, it is best to always go back to the FOUNDING documents to see what it is meant to be at the core.
As we said in the 70’s: “Right on, sister!” Pray for the Copts; this is their Kristellnacht.

  11. Cathy says:

Fluffy, the news, reported 36 prisoners, members of the MB were killed by the army and “buildings” were burned. No mention that the “buildings” were Churches and no mention of anybody being slaughtered by the MB protestors.
