I warmly direct the priestly and episcopal readership here to These Stone Walls, the blog of Fr. Gordon MacRae, an innocent priest unjustly jailed. He has a deeply moving and poignant post today which I won’t try to summarize or even describe.
Just go there and read it.
I will only add that, if things keep going the way they are going, and I don’t see why they won’t without disaster or divine intervention reorienting them, we priests ought to reflect on the possibility (probably?) of persecution. We must, now, try to get our heads into the right place beforehand so that when it comes, we will at least have the benefit of some spiritual preparation.

We have been praying the 54 Day rosary novena for Fr. MacRae!

Shattering. As someone who has struggled with suicide for over 50 years my heart embraces him. The Cross, it burns.
Somebody remind me of this next time I whine about how I’m gonna throw my hands up and quit because struggling SSAs like me keep getting shoved to the curb.
Peter, I struggle with other things but feel swept aside too. If my rosary beads were sized according to the number of intentions I would be dragging around a chain of footballs. Which would make a rosary walk like a visit to the gym. Watch and pray. Repeat until tired.
Fr. Gordon MacRae is one of the most courageous priests I know of. May God reward him for all of his suffering! He inspires me.
Everyone, please pray for suffering priests and please consider donating to Opus Bono Sacerdotii which is one of the finest organizations I know of for helping priests.
God bless you all!
Please if you can help and remember these guys who work tirelessly helping Priests: opusbono.org/ many of the situations that they have experienced are heart breaking however their intervention has saved many Priests.
