I just had some super news – truly – about a great development for the New Evangelization.
I can’t say what it is yet because the right people have to make this public. Still it is exciting enough that I want to say something good happened and then ask…

A friend of mine recently suffered a serious eye injury. Initially the diagnosis was bad and they missed the fact that her eye socket had multiple fractures, she is now in good hands and the surgery to add a plate and stabilize everything appears to be a complete success. Praise God!
Oh Father, this tease is so cruel. Can you at least tell us when to expect this news to be released?
As for my good news…my wife and I just celebrated the birth of our first child a couple weeks ago: a beautiful baby girl.
I just, by the kindness of God, finished this semester’s non-repeat examination phase with some long awaited success. Now I can, with some confidence, go finish the rest of my study.
I hope it involves the canonical recognition of the SSPX!
Does it have to do with one being accepted as a priest in standing in a certain Diocese? I hope and
pray it takes care of your pressing petition that has been so long. God Bless You Father!

There is a Latin Novus Ordo Mass on Friday afternoons and that is where I am going in about half an hour.
Bad news: Fr Z will not tell us what the such wonderful news is?! For some reason my guess is: Greg Burke is soon to be the new Vatican Spokesman succeeding Fr Lombardi?

My prodigal daughter has registered for college. Small steps.
My good news is that my last Army son has just returned home for good. He was a Korean linguist / voice intercept. (His twin was in the 82nd Airborne in Kandahar, and we’re thankful every day to him him back.) Yep twins enlisting at the same time. Sucker punch for mom and dad. But finally, every member of the Bear’s family is a civilian.
DICI, the SSPX newsletter,has published a partial transcript of a two-day presentation by Bishop deGallerrata. He reports that in June 2015, the CDF sent a new version of the document they want the SSPX to sign. From his description, it is much softer than the earlier version but he says that, personally, he would not endorse it. Apparently, the SSPX has not yet given a formal reply to the CDF.
On the second day of the conference, he said that he thinks that Pope Francis may recognize the SSPX without requiring them to sign any document.

We have our Lenten Day of Confession next Friday (7:30 am thru 7:30 pm). Many people come on those awesome days.

Since we are all praying that the Holy Father “unilaterally” recognizes the SSPX and accepts them “as they are”, I hope, which incidentally is an outcome that is in ALL OF OUR INTEREST, my good news is that ground was broken for a new SSPX school in Albuquerque NM. As a product of a parochial education ( C.R., F.S.C., C.M.), I have come to understand that the ground zero of the post conciliar revolution are not the closed churches but rather the destruction of the Catholic school system. What a waste.

The student population at my (Catholic or is it Ignatian now?) university is rather liberal, but in preparation for Lent, my student group is organizing a Friday afternoon of exposing the Blessed Sacrament and then concluding with sung Vespers and Benediction! We’re going to invite priests to hear confessions during those times as well. Please pray for us!

My guess. Bishops will be given permission to use sspx priests for the Latin Mass. Which would force the bishops and the sspx to have a conversation. This seems like good news but spells trouble.
Francis has said there will be one giant act of mercy per month for the jubilee year aimed at those on the fringes. February’s was obviously the contracepting comment and this next one will be the only outreach to traditionalists. Perhaps to soften the blow of the relatio….

Good news? Lots! A dear friend, whom I call my mom, is recovering from heart troubles that could have been fatal. One of my sons just went to boot camp for Coast Guard. We have 24 hours of confession throughout our Diocese next weekend (our parishes is one of the hosts) . Next week we
continue at our Parish doing the 5 First Saturday devotion. This week our Parish is again doing a reconsecration and new Consecration Of St Louis DeMontfort. My Dad just turned 78 and is in
reasonably good health~ God has blessed me with deep sorrows and hardships,
but has never failed to be there and give me the opportunity to grow in graces.
Today a young and recently ordained diocesan priest who is a friend of mine celebrated his second Traditional Latin Mass. Tomorrow, he will celebrate his first sung Mass, with incense.

Everyone in my immediate family is healthy. We’ve had some bad grandparent illnesses and accidents so nothing new is to rejoice over.
My four year old daughter was just accepted into the Catholic K-8 of our choice. They get taught Latin starting this year. The bad news is that the program for the K year is to learn the Ave Maria, and she already knows it!
Good News: the new Job is going better.
Other good news, my parish started a 5 week course on Confession last week, the turnout is amazing for a Saturday afternoon class, about 30 both weeks and we had so many show up for confession this week that Father could not hear all of them before Mass, since he is now the only priest we have. Great Growth in the parish since he became Pastor.
Good news: the St. Benedict Tridentine Community beautifully assisted Friday evening’s Juventutem Missa Cantata at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greektown, celebrated by the priest-secretary to the Archbishop of Detroit (including Biebl’s Ave Maria).
Better news: Old St. Mary’s will have a monthly First Friday Missa Cantata, beginning in April.
Best news: the aforesaid choir will be singing for the Solemn High Nuptial Mass uniting me to my Beloved, late this summer. :)
My news this weekend? Long overdue trip home to see Mom. Also two visits with my wife’s mother (really, two of the best visits we’ve had with her in recent memory). Also, M-I-L moved to a much better building recently – quite happy with that. My old high school’s boys basketball won their conference tournament (via an epic comeback from a 4th quarter deficit) for the first time ever. My hometown parish had a guest preacher at all Masses today – the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal have come from Newark for a parish Lenten Mission this week.
