To go North I must first go East, rather like starting Mass ad orientem so that you can sing the Gospel to the liturgical north.
I thought my native Minnesota was flat!
Had I greater presence of mind I could have shot some photos of very spiffy black helecopters lined up as we entered the airport, which had been an old Air Force Base. You know the type, like the ones that circle over my building and follow me in my car.
I’ve been to some pretty laid back airports but this place takes the étouffée. TSA wasn’t even open for biz until a few minutes ago. How will they reach their quota of nail clippers, coffee cups, and water bottles?

What am I thinking, oh boy, wouldn’t we get called “taliban Catholics then”! We can stick with “God willing.”
Our pastor announced he would be in Chicago this week for something liturgy related (he’s also the liturgical director for the diocese). I do know that he has commented on this blog in the past, so there’s hope he is at this workshop.
So where and when can I get a copy of this book in English?
“If God wills it”. I would be uneasy hearing a lot of that on a flight. I have to be on a Delta flight next Wednesday and going through Hartsfield to Atlanta too! I despise flying. I don’t know how you do so much of it. Only my kids are enough of a draw.
April 8 is coming and with it the exhortation or whatever it is being called. That ought to be revealing. Hurrah for more lio! Those in the peanut gallery would like to see more action more quickly. So much damage is being done.
Although Cardinals Sarah and Burke would make flying worthwhile of course!

Driving ad orientem . . .
Am willing to bet any passengers in the back seat are not complaining that your back is to them.
The good cardinals make the right connexion between lack of understanding the Church – because of the widespread lack of knowledge about what She does and how She should go about doing it – and the loss of faith. As many have pointed out, a most effective way to practice and teach the Church’s Charity is through the reverent celebration of the Mass. If our clergy and bishops don’t have even that simple insight then the following irony will be perpetuated: “In the old Latin liturgy few people knew what the priest was saying, but nearly everyone knew what he was doing. In the new liturgy everyone knows what he is saying, but few know what he is doing.”
The other day a proponent of innovation in the liturgy explained to me that the “so-called abuses” that have taken place since VII are not abuses at all but “a good thing” because “it gets the people more involved in what is going on”. I suggested that a Mass was not an interactive TV programme but she couldn’t see the objection.
