LOL
A good laugh (and a lot of prayer and mortification) is what we need in time like this.
Thank you Father Z!!!
In light of current events, i hereby vow to be more supportive of the contemplative life.
When I was very young, my mom and grandma took me to the nearby Dubuque Trappist monastery, where the sisters are known for their fine caramels. I must have recently been watching or having been read Snow White or Hanzel and Gretel or some such story, because when the nun opened the door, I asked my mom right there in front of everyone if this lady was a witch. Talk about getting mixed up . . .
By the way, I was fortunate enough to be taught by two nuns in school, and I even had one nun as my principal for the school. I think, unfortunately, that I am in the last generation to be able to say that.
May God increase the religious, for the sake of the world and for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Check out the one Tom Peters found…
I had a boxing Nun and a boxing Amish guy. The box of the boxing Amish guy said “Ve Ain’t Gonna Take It Anymore”
My mom has a Nunzilla she walks and spits fire.
Luke,
All is not lost. The Diocese of Arlington just opened a new high school, John Paul the Great High School, that is run by the Nashville Dominican sisters–in habits! Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist is another teaching order that is growing by leaps and bounds and staffing schools with traditions sisters.
Please remember Sr. Mary Elias and all the sisters at Monastery of Our Mother of Mercy in Alexandria, South Dakota..Carmelites
I’m reminded of “Bells of St. Mary’s” where Sr. Benedict (Ingrid Bergman) teaches the young boy how to box so he can defend himself from the bullies.
A nun who prays before the Blessed Sacrament is in combat with Satan.
Another new community to watch is Sisterd of Mary, Mother of the Church in Spokane They They are a teaching community.
