A Gaudete Rose report

It is nice to see that His Hermeneuticalness had a Solemn Mass at Blackfen and used their new rose set.

Hmm, a certain magazine wrote some mean things about Blackfen once upon a time, but it seems those vestments will be used twice yearly per omnia saecula saeculorum.

  2. medievalist: Some of you remember!

Yes, I hope that publication isn’t “bitter”.

    Fr. Finigan, lovely vestments.

Beautiful rose vstments, the ‘rose’ vestment could be called the color of ‘mauve’nowadays.

The color is that of the red rose of Lancaster see Rosa gallica officinalis

Medievalist, actually the rose vestments can be worn a few more than two days a year. Recall last year’s topic here: https://wdtprs.com/2008/12/quaeritur-rose-vestments-during-the-week-after-gaudete-sunday/

Interestingly, the new (2010) FSSP Ordo now lists the 1935 SRC permission for rose during the week.

So there’s one more day of rose available this year, tomorrow.
