That is absolutely amazing. No doubt Our Lady interceded.
God bless Capt. Sully. A perfect response to a crisis.
To add a theological bent, if we practice virtue constantly, when disaster strikes, with the grace of God, we’ll be better equipped to handle it!
Today is Captain Sullenberger’s birthday (60).
This is exactly what I have been thinking of in relation to the sad state of affairs with the Costa Concordia. In this accident, the crew stayed in control of the situation and the captain and first officer didn’t try to chicken out, and everyone lived (in spite of a much worse impact, no less).
What a class act! You’d never know these guys were in panic mode I’m sure.
Very cool!
I think I will avoid flying Alitalia in the future and choose US Airways instead.
Thank you for this, Father. It takes my mind off Schettino, the NCR, and the Obama
administration and helps me think of positive human potential instead.
WOW.
Correction: He turned 61 today. I blame my faulty mental math skills.
I know this is a serious situation, but the term “multiple bird strikes” reminded me of your angry bird game the other day. Thank God for intelligent, responsible pilots.
May Our Lady protect all travelers, by land, sea, or air.
Capt. Sully–paradigm, humanly speaking, for all future priests!
God bless Capt Sullenberger and his first officer, what a team!
As an Airline Transport Pilot with nearly 10,000hrs in command, I find this story a little tedious. Ask the Pilot described it best.

People, pilots aren’t even trained on this. They train for the difficult things!

Wow-that was quite a re-creation!
Captain Sully was as cool as a cucumber, that’s for sure! No panic at all!
What a contrast to the captain of the cruise ship off the coast of Italy.
Yes, I have no doubt-Our Lady, the ‘Star of the Sea and Queen of the Skies’ truly interceded in this case!
Irishgirl:
There was a captaingirl who was even cooler but no one ever hears of her.

I have been worried since the new runway was open at LGA, because the planes pass above my building. The Captain made is landing on the river almost in front of my windows, well done. I know that the roof top of my building would not have been a choice.
The reconstruction is amazing I watched it several time.
The is no new runway at LaGarbage.
Same to pieces of concrete as always. 204.108.4.16/d-tpp/1201/00289AD.PDF
A person cannot change what they cannot accept. Captain Sully missed no moments in disbelief. THAT is what I would like to have thoughout my life, most especially in recognizing our Creator’s will for me.
