He’s back! Fr. Byers returns from silence

It is good to see that – after a hiatus – Fr. George David Byers is back and up and running on these interwebs. His new blog is Arise! Let us be going!

To set the mood, at this time his wallpaper includes the image of the raven and seagull opening up a can of whoopass on the poor little peace dove during a papal Angelus. HERE No sign of Sylvia, the Papal Dove Protector.

People may want to see this really interesting post explaining what happened with Fr Byers’ previous disappearance from the blogosphere and how this affected him, and apparently a personal intervention from the very highest higher-up who un-silenced him: http://ariseletusbegoing.com/2015/08/14/015-pope-francis-saves-trashed-victim-of-omerta-synod-on-the-family-instrumentum-laboris-%C2%A7130/

The background on what he was apparently silenced for is that in a long series of blog posts titled “The Judas Crisis” he criticized bishops, the bishops’ national policies on handling sex abuse allegations, and the liability insurer National Catholic Risk Retention Group in a very forceful (some might say over the top) way for throwing even innocent priests falsely accused of sexual misconduct “under the bus” by settling with accusers without seriously investigating them or letting it go to trial, for money reasons and public relations reasons, but with disregard for truth or authentic justice. Accused priests whose dioceses settled with accusers (even false accusers) would be permanently removed from ministry and laicized, their reputations ruined, and in some cases the result was men ruined and destroyed in far more than just reputation. If I remember correctly Fr Byers also fiercely criticized some particular priests who were involved in handling sexual abuse cases, and subsequent to Fr Byers going offline one of those priests was himself accused of crimes which he pleaded guilty to, that involved money, and is now in prison serving a substantial sentence.

I am certain that the Holy Father is not aware of this, but his lifting of the silencing of Father Byers, apparently imposed by other, more shadowy figures in Rome has had another consequence in addition to the great new site for which Father Byers writes about the Synod on the Family. The Holy Father’ s invitation also allowed Father George to complete a corporal work of mercy by assisting with the formation of another site on behalf of a worthy man, a prisoner, and Catholic convert. Father George has done a wonderful thing and the evidence for it is found at http://MercytotheMax.com

[It is very good to see you here, Reverend and Dear Father!]
