“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”

A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Yesterday at work I was given the task of locating a piece of data among tens of thousands of others. The search had been begun last week, but with no results. I asked the dear Saint Anthony of Padua to help us. Within 20 minutes of searching, there was my piece of data on my computer screen, and I was able to turn it in to my supervisor. Thank you, Saint Anthony!
Newly ordained priest for my diocese. I had the both the honour and privilege of serving at both his ordination and first Mass. Please keep him in your prayers.
Finally finishing my surgical residency and moving to Nashville next week. :)
We’re expecting . . . Twins!
That puts us at 7. Biological solution, here we come!
By the grace of God, am building the pieces of a plan of life… not religious life, just *ordinary* life after decades of self-destruction and defeatism. Please pray with me that this will help to give me the strength to stay sober and to win my SSA battle.
The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest is to open a school at its apostolate in Preston. Now that’s what I call good news. See http://www.stwalburge.org , https://www.facebook.com/icksp.preston/posts/1275347049230765
Things at the Shrine of the Grotto of the Redemption, in West Bend, Iowa are looking up. We are in the process of petitioning the USCCB about becoming a National Shrine and we are getting support from several bishops and cardinals. Please pray for the elevation of the Shrine.

Our daughter, Jacinta Rose Kramer, was born this morning. Her name was chosen months ago and she chose to wait until the date of the second apparition of Our Lady to the children of Fatima. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us! St. Jacinta Marto, pray for us!
Peter S., praying for you, and entrusting you to the powerful intercession of St. Anthony of Padua on this his feast day. God loves you, sees your desire to belong to him, and is with you, especially when things are hardest.
I love the good news. Thank you, Father.
It’s so exciting: twins, new babies, new Catholic school, people carrying their crosses, new jobs and on and on! Congrats to you all.
My good news: One of our sons was accepted to the FSSP seminary, and also my husband and I will celebrated 26 years of marriage tomorrow.
I was feeling a bit discouraged by the world this morning and people’s good news has cheered me immensely. Thank you, Father Z.
Our parish in San Diego has been blessed with two ordinations in the past 2 weeks. One man to the priesthood and the other to the permanent diaconate. It fills our parish with hope and joy!
The blessing of a hot day, splashing in the back yard kiddie pool with our granddaughter.
Hmm, let’s see? Passed my Krav Maga ‘Practitioner Level 1’ (P1) & working toward P2 for August..proving you CAN teach an old (58 year old) dog new tricks. Boosted, inspired and completely awed by the 47 year old soccer fan in London who took on the 3 murdering jihadists, last week, single handedly holding them off while screaming at their “This is for Allah” with “F@@@ you, I am Millwall” (Millwall FC has a ‘reputation’ amongst soccer fans)….cried at the beauty of the choir’s singing at an EF High Mass last Sunday (lol, what’s with THAT?), getting a text from my daughter describing how she’d completed a PowerPoint presentation ad-lib, when the sound went on the fritz, in front of 60 people….discovering a new craft beer here in Canada (“Rutting Elk Red” from the Grizzly Paw Brewery in Canmore, Alberta)…anticipating a bottle of the Belgian beer you had featured, Fr.Z. It’s been a good, honest, basic week with simple and somewhat enchanting pleasures!
Mass last night, followed by dinner with a pilgrimage friend. Anticipating Mass tonight, followed by a talk on Fatima. I must be expected, as it tpok 4 min to secure an Adoration sub.
Signed up to sub Friday at 7 and 9 pm. Will go for ice cream the hour between.
I am a priest of Jesus Christ 25 years today. And I had an awesome celebration on Sunday with a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form followed by a dinner with family, parishioners and friends. How blest are we my brother priests!
Found out last night that my parish with its 90 year old church will hold its first Mass in the EF since the changes of Vatican II. Please pray for us as we prepare for the solemn high mass we will host in October!
After 8 years of being grounded due to some minor medical issue(s), and a change (forced on the FAA by congress, who did something positive for a change) in the medical certification regs…received my medical clearance last month, and was signed off last week for my flight review. And, the local field asked if I’d come back part time as an instructor…of course, I said yes!
And, after a wait of *mumble mumble* years (actually, my entire life), was a ‘Special Guest’ of the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Saturday…one more item on the bucket list crossed off…and on my birthday the next day, attended Mass at the parish of my baptism all those *mumble mumble* years ago.
The Lord’s been especially gracious this past week.
Well, we got an amazing note yesterday from our *cloistered* ( at the Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in Kensington, CA) daughter that she spent my birthday in St. Louis! WHAT??!! Turns out the prior general of the order called a meeting for the nuns to go over the Pope’s constitution for contemplative religious, the Apostolic Constitution ‘Vultum Dei Quaerere’ and she was one of three nuns from her monastery to attend. She said it was glorious and said that one of the friars called it another Pentecost.

Our parish is having a Corpus Christi procession on Sunday!
Then later in the afternoon, we’re getting together with the family to celebrate Father’s Day and two June birthdays.
One of the local music directors in the Diocese decided to volunteer his entire choir for Corpus Christi, meaning that the Diocese’s first Solemn High Mass in over 50 years will have a choir of over 30 people.
Not only that, the Diocesan newspaper will be covering the Mass.
Pray that it will be successful and received positively!
This past Sunday, I (along with my wife and several hundred others) attended a Eucharistic procession–my very first ever!
Seven churches in two hours. It was a very moving experience.
Our three parish churches will each have a Corpus Christi procession on Sunday.
The following Sunday the archbishop is celebrating Mass at our little church because he was unable to do so when he made his parish visit several years ago! I keep thinking I’m dreaming!
Almost two weeks ago we moved into our new home, with a parish two blocks away that has one EF Mass on Sundays, a very reverent OF Mass daily, and several large and friendly families in our neighborhood.
We’ve also been introduced to a great group of Catholic families that meet frequently for evening prayer and a potluck.
Makes the relocation seem not so bad. God is good.
Met two new(ish) families at Mass in our Parish church Sunday,
One lady with her delightful little girl – happy baby, just a few months old – just moved into the neighborhood.
Another lady with her delightful little girl – also happy baby, just a few months ago. I had first (and last) seen her midwinter, very much 8.9999 months pregnant and very ready to get on with it. Hadn’t seen her since and none of the other regulars I spoke with knew what had happened to her – I had been feeling pangs of guilt that I hadn’t made better connection then to make sure they had help if needed. Turns out they were in some Sundays I was away, and many others they were at our sister parish, which has a later Mass.
On the whimsical side, I was paid a comment box compliment on a friend’s Facebook page today, with a bon mot that made me laugh out loud, and which I will file away to use as a title if I should ever write a memoir or novel.
Been praying about direction. Received a clear confirmation that I need to let go of the last project and return my focus to home. I started three novenas today to help me move in the correct direction. It will not be easy. Still, I know the direction God wills. That is very good.
Dear Peter Stuart,
Praying for you, brother. May St. Anthony of Padua and St. Charles Lwanga pray for you and intercede for you. Take up your cross that with the help of Our Lord and Lady will become your staff along the road of chaste courage, a living sign in contradiction to this age of ‘do what thou wilt’. God sees your struggles, He looks upon you with dear affection, knowing you, loving you, showing you the way to live that will truly preserve and grow your God Given dignity. Day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment if necessary. I will uphold you in my prayers.
God’s peace and blessings be upon you.
PS: my own good news, growing deeper in prayer, confession, getting back into multi-weekly mass attendance, trusting in and growing in Christ’s peace no matter what this world may throw at us.Thankful for good priests who aid in the path of sanctification.Praying for those priests who themselves are struggling in the mire.
Yesterday I received good news regarding a health related matter. Thank you so much for praying for me!
I finished a Five First Saturday devotion this month. I was out of town for the last First Saturday, so I looked up a church, went, and was truly blessed to be at an EF Mass with choir, and a very full church. It was beautiful.
My recently formed chamber choir had its first concert in the St. Nikolaus Church in Füssen, Germany. We performed Palestrina’s Missa Brevis in F and William Byrd’s Ave verum Corpus. We then sung these works during Mass at our village Church (St. Ulrichs) in Pinswang, Austria on Pentecost Sunday. My understanding is that this is the first time in well over a half century that Renaissance music has been sung as part of the liturgy at Mass here.
Said prayers for Peter Stuart.
Went to another great Fatima event last night at Assumption Grotto. Adoration, talk, Benediction, Holy Mass, Rosary and a Q&A.
The talk was on Russia’s Errors and the “three secrets” of Fatima. Father Perrone gave the best walk-through of that complicated subject that I’ve heard.
Following a college pre-orientation event, I took my dad to his first EF Mass since the ’60s at the Oratory of Old St. Patrick, an ICKSP parish in Kansas City. He didn’t seem terribly uncomfortable or wishing he hadn’t gone, so I think there may be a chance that my family could begin going to the EF regularly. He’s the one I was really concerned about, I think my mom would love the beauty and reverence of the Latin Mass.
Our family went to a Fatima procession, talk, Benediction, and brown scapular enrollment last night at our FSSP parish. It was very well-attended; the church was packed and many had to stand for lack of pew space. So encouraging to see so many there! This is an important anniversary year of Our Lady’s visits to the children at Fatima.
@PeterStuart: I will remember you in my rosary tomorrow. You are a brave man and will be victorious with the grace of Our Lord. He has good things in store for you!
On a more frivolous front, it is less than a month until the premiere of the anime, Vatican Kiseki Chousakan (Vatican Miracle Investigator).
Two Catholic priests in cassocks, one Japanese and one European. With science, faith, ancient lore, and good sense, they investigate miraculous healings and other strange events, seeking truth and banishing delusion. Together, they fight Satan!
(And by the power of anime, they also have perfect hair and floaty stoles. Fr. Z will probably laugh himself sick.)
I do not know the storyline, and most anime does not understand Catholic stuff. But there could always be a miracle!
[They fight Satan? Sounds like my kind of plot line.]
