This is a public service announcement.
I watch lots of Chinese language movies.
Last night I spent a week watching Yi Yi (A One And A Two).
Run for your lives.
Despite a good Rotten Tomatoes review, this is a 2:53 hours of your life you will never have back.
I hated this movie so much that I had to warn you.

God help us all!
“Last night I spent a week watching Yi Yi.”
Heh. I think that says it all, really.

Irulats: It’s still a truly lousy film.
Fr. Z: 我相信您。

Fr. Z, I concur with your assessment of that movie. I admire your ability to stick it out to the bitter end. I lasted about 1/2 way through it before I could not take one more moment.
General MacArthur, where are you when we need you?
Fr,
Since you like Chinese language movies, have you seen “Raise the Red Lantern” yet? A dark and depressing movie, yet my wife and I found ourselves liking it a lot.

Thanks, Father. It’ll be tough, but I’ll try to avoid this one. :-)
For Goodness sake, are you all started to talk and write Chinese after watching some Chinese film? I cannot believe it!
Um… Father, if it was that bad, then WHY did you continue watching til the end instead of turning it off? You could have recouped at least some of that wasted time by giving up on the movie once you realized it was a ‘dog’. :-)
That’s the best movie review I have ever read. Short. To the point. Simple directions.
Thanks Father Z!!!

NeoCarlist: have you seen “Raise the Red Lantern†yet?
Of course I have. That is a necessary film.
Janet: WHY did you continue watching
Take it from someone who has heard confessions. Sometimes people make really lousy confessions until they get their act together. Then the important stuff comes, after alot of hemming and hawing, at the end or when you least expect it.
I am an optimist.
sigil: If you understood this round-eyed foreign devil’s Chinese at all then pipe down.
heheh, Fr. Z., it’s ok, I’m a round-eyed foreign devil too!
I have never seen a movie with so many tomatoes before.
