Traditionally, these Ember Days were times for ordinations. Therefore, I very much like the last line in the Rorate blog entry:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this explanation of an Ember day. Being a newbie, I saw it in my missal and have been wanting to learn more about them.
Not to be greedy, but…will you be providing us with your WDTPRS prayer refelction for Wednesday in the Octave of Pentecost? I’ve been copying down your translations from Monday and Tuesday and inserting them into their proper page in my missal so I’ll have them for present and future prayer until the day comes (God-Willing) that there will be a TLM in my area so I can attend it daily.
Whoops-I forgot that yesterday was an Ember Day!
I ate cold fried chicken for my dinner!
(I don’t have my Catholic wall calendars up yet in my new apartment)
