This is fantastic news from one who was there! And many thanks to Bishop Amos, who sent six of the priests of the Diocese to St. John Cantius in Chicago for training. The first Mass was beautiful, of course and about 250 attended the Solemn High Mass celebrated by Father Scott Lemaster at St. Anthony’s while another at least 200 attended at St. Wenceslaus in Iowa City with Father Appel. For those who have been waiting for this sublime Mass to return to the area after so many years, this was a great day of rejoicing. Here is a link to the article in the Diocesan newspaper, which is not known for its conservative views-quite the contrary.

Does anybody know who are the 6 priests who trained? I know 2 priests in that diocese and wondered if it was one of them. I haven’t spoken with them in 2 or 3 years though.
…and once again, the “generous permission” of the bishop is not needed; only a priest who will say the Mass for the people in his parish. Perhaps a “thank you” to the bishop in regard to sending the priests for training would have been better.
