I’ve had the opportunity to play both of these marches. “Transit” is the better of the two (pace Gophers) as it was written at the height of his powers. The MN March was one of his last.
I love the Internet.
I too, saw the 2004 transit from here in Wisconsin. I’m very much looking forward to the second pass next spring. This time my kids will see it with me. They’re old enough now to understand and appreciate what’s happening. Pray for good weather because it’s the only chance they’ll have to see it in their lifetime!

… and – speaking of things Minnesotan – did you know that the March King also wrote the Foshay Tower March for the dedication of that Minneapolis skyscraper in 1929 (and that Wilbur Foshay ultimately went to prison for (I think) shady stock market deals?
