The Litany of the Sacred Heart might be appropriate as well.
Happy birthday to Benedict!!
He has been such a blessing to Holy Church. May God give him many more years!
I will pray for his good health . . . and that today he gets a wonderful idea for a new book!
(Is that a selfish wish? If it is, I don’t want to know).
Happy birthday, dear Papa B!
Happy Birthday Your Holiness!
Ad multos annos!
Happy Birthday, Papa Ratzinger!
We’ll be raising a glass or two tonight for the birthday Pope!
I can’t ever forget his birthday, it’s my birthday, too!
Santita, Bouno Camploanno, con la bouna Salute…..
Noi Ti Ammo spesso………..e senta la vostra mancanza!
Happy Birthday Dear Holy Father……….we wish you many many years with GOOD HEALTH GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!! OH how we miss YOU!!!!!!!
You are our POPE!
Prayers said. And prayers of thanks for him and for the man who groomed him, Blessed John Paul II.
20 years ago tonight I was ordained to The Priesthood along with eight others. It gave me great joy to know that it was also the birthday of my beloved Cardinal Ratzinger. I’m pretty sure that, on that night, I was the only one of the ordinandi to rejoice in that connection. 20 years later all of us are pleased to know that we share April 16 with our beloved Pope Emeritus.
Oremus pro invicem!
It would have been the 88th birthday of my mother, who died on Sep 29th. Also the day St Bernadette died.
In the last three years of his ponitificate, Benedict reached an almost miraculous pinnacle of efficacy, fervour and precision. His statements showed that he knew exactly what was going on and his sympathy was with the poor despised traditional Catholic militant pro-life faithful. Just a few of many examples that could be cited were his personal endorsement of the U.S. March for Life, his document on requirements for Catholic charities and his astounding declaration that Catholics who have lost the faith should leave the Church. (This from a pope!) And who can exaggerate his herculean feat in producing an acceptable English translation of the Mass? We have Benedict to thank every time we say, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” Imagine! For some of us, Benedict had become just one blast of bliss after another. And let’s not forget he was doing this increasingly under the burden of age, fatigue and betrayal all around.
Happy birthday, Your Holiness, and thank you!
Viva el Papa (emeritus)!
Odd that Francis would choose today to say that those who want to turn the clock back on Vatican II are fools.
Long live Papa Benedicto. May Our Lady of the Clergy protect him under her mantle always.
Rev’d dear @Fr AJ,
maybe our Holy Father was making sure that on the day where the enthousiasm for the new Pope becomes combined with the love for the old, we do not forget the proper limits of the infallibility dogma.
(For those who cannot see my face, it is smiling.)

I’m going to assume you are a Priest but if your not my apologies.
Father, may I have the link to that quote please?
I’m not challenging, just asking. Thank you :)
Happy Birthday Papa Bemedict XVI
God bless you and strengthen you!
Our Lady guard you and guide you!

Ad multos annos!!!
Thanks for the reminder. I remember this time of year, because in 2008 Pope Benedict’s birthday occurred while he was visiting here in Washington (it was the day he visited the White House).
Last week I put in a request for a Mass at my parish to be offered for his intentions.
Mother Mary, Queen of Heaven & Earth, Mediatrix of all grace, may you grant PEBXVI love filled joyful serenity on his 86th bday.
Happy Birthday Papa Benedict!
He being biritual, the Holy Father is probably one of the many whose mind’s ears are ringing with “Mnyogaya lyeta!” and “Eis polla et?!”
My apologies for the Font Problem: “ete!”
Thank you, Dear God, for Benedict XVI! Bless him and keep him safe from all evil. Amen.
It is truly no reflection on Pope Francis, (I think I will come to be very devoted to him too) but oh, how I miss beloved Benedict! Thank you for the picture, Fr. Z.
Happy Birthday, Benedict XVI. Thank you for your years of faithful service, your dedication to the Catholic Church. God Bless you.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag! Que Dios lo bendiga siempre, Papa Benedicto. Tanto en nuestras plegarias como en nuestro corazón siempre estará Su Santidad.
Happy Birthday, dear Holy Father. May the Lord grant you an especially beautiful day, filled with peace and joy. Thank you for all you have done for us. You have increased and strengthened the faith and knowledge of Christ’s love for so many of us, by your example and wisdom.
My affection and respect for Pope Benedict know no bounds. I’ve said a prayer for him today, and think of him often.
I don’t know where to begin sharing what ‘s in my heart about this great man and Holy Father. I am at a loss for words to express what I owe to his teaching and papacy except to say that he has given me a great deal of hope that I didn’t have before: “And I will not only hope but ‘hope beyond hope’ in the progress of love, for love hopes all things. (1 Cor 13:7)” (Origen)
I hope Benedict XVI finds Peace and Health for his Birthday. I will forever love this Pope as no other I suspect.
Happy Birthday Pope Emeritus!!!! I feel as strongly about pope Benedict as some do about JPII because I returned to the faith with him as our pope. What a holy man!
May God grant joy and peace to our dear, sweet Benedict, Pope Emeritus. His luminous teaching is a treasure that will continue to bless us for the life of the Church.
If any of the readers here have any Vatican or Castel Gandolfo contacts, please send him our love, gratitude and prayers!!
