The other day, I saw a stage of the Tour de France that was in the Vendée.
Today is the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Carmelites of Compiègne.
I’ve been watching the lunatic frenzy and eruptions of malice from the Left over any word that Pres. Trump utters or doesn’t utter.
Lately some have suggested military coups, free income for people in Chicago, mouthpieces seemingly for the Holy See are undermining Humanae vitae, the Seal is being attacked in Australian, Communion for those in mortal sin is being promoted and forget can. 915 and can. 916 even as Card. Coco wants protection of the environment put into the Code of Canon Law as an obligation of the faithful, homoeroticism is found even first Masses in money-enslaved Germany, priest friends are talking about the increase in demonic activity and calls for help from exorcists, etc.
As I watched the idiocy from the political left tonight on the news – remember, they are stupid, but they are not stupid, if you know what I mean – the image of the badge of the Vendée came to mind. Earlier in the day, I thought about the possibility of being put up against the wall in the future.
Prayers for you, Father, and for all the other “non-juring” priests.
It is bad, it will almost surely get worse.
As to your last comment about being put up against a wall in the future: Remember Cardinal George’s warning about what is coming for clergy and anyone who speaks for Christ and The Truth:
“I will die in bed, my successor will die in prison, and his successor will die as a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the Church has done so often in human history.”
He is right… and, in the end, also optimistic/hopeful as should we all be, if getting to the bottom will be very painful and likely long enduring, with the way back up likely long and difficult, if also ultimately successful. That is what our faith gives us.
This might make a good velcro morale patch.
My family and I have just finished watching War of the Vendee, and my son gave me as a Father’s Day present The Hidden Rebellion: the untold story of the French Revolution, both of which I highly recommend.
The battle is different this time (so far) from that against Robespierre, but in form, not in kind.
I wonder if we could make patches of our own for our own version of this horrid war against evil, temporal as well as spiritual.
Can you think of a good reason why the system is preventing me from posting here?
Father,
Michael Matt is using the emblem in starting the League of the Sacred Heart. Lapels coming!

[GMTA? Coincidence? I wonder if something is “up” with this from on high.]
@Fr. Z “… priest friends are talking about the increase in demonic activity and calls for help from exorcists, etc.”
I’ve been investigating probably the biggest satanic cult here in New Mexico for months now; I’ll spare you the lurid details. But images I’ve seen would shock you. I was in the FBI and have been to the FBI Field Office in Albuquerque about it. But I have had very strange poltergeist activity happen to me, such as almost a small bomb going off on my desk, and everything flying off of it as I was finishing a report; and then lights turning on-and-off on their own. Another time I was at my client’s house with a young woman and her baby, and it sounded like boulders were being thrown on the ceiling, and the sound of footsteps on the roof, ect. (this is the spot where satanists were abusing her teenage daughter). She said, “you were in the FBI, go investigate!” I did, inside and outside the home–nothing. If you don’t think demons are real, think again.
And I had zero desire to get involved in this case; I was roped into it, and I know my Scapular and exorcised Miraculous Medal have helped protect me.
I also contacted a exorcist priest, but he’s an old man, and said I should contact the Archbishop’s Office; but I trust him like I do a black widow spider. So, I had to use my own bottle of holy water and bless each room of my client’s estate myself.
I’ll second that Vendee morale badge idea.
Since you didn’t say it this time, Father, I will. In this age, as we creep (or hurtle) toward the End of Days, we need to put on the full armor of God and
GO TO CONFESSION.
The Hidden Rebellion website sells Vendée badges, my husband bought two.

Or a lapel pin. Which brings me to ask, what does the inscription on the image say? I can’t read it so well.
Oh, me and my silly questions. (“Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa …”) The inscription says “Dieu Le Roi” which means “God The King.” Works for me.
Years ago, I saw that movie about the Vendee done by the children. Everybody on this site was talking about it. Someone said his wife embroidered crosses on their children’s clothes, and I thought, “I can do that.” Every left sleeve of everything I own has a simple embroidered sacred heart on it, inspired directly by this badge. I’ve had interesting conversations with people who noticed it.

RIGHT! And the director is named Jim Morlino. HERE
As a devotee of Bl. Charles de Foucauld, I had some lapel pins made a few years ago with the heart/cross design. While I am sold out of the pins, I made the original mockup image available here should anyone wish to use it: http://coastcaritas.org/2014/06/20/heart-and-cross-pins-for-sale/
Fr Z, have you thought about making a Vendée lapel pin available for sale on your site?
“Some great purpose and design is being worked out here below, of which we have the honor to be faithful servants.”
– Winston Churchill addressing the U.S. Congress three weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Fr. Z,
I have also been reading about the Vendee battle, and St. Pius X, as a way to put some perspective on the Church during these challenging times. I was inspired to design and fly this flag at home.
